Taurus' Roots

Taurus is the sign of rootedness. Out of all the zodiac signs this one has the powerful ability to stay in the same place and make something out of it. Taurus is an earth sign ruled by Venus, and they are also one of the most fertile. The second sign of the zodiac is very much about anchoring ourselves into the world, and demonstrating both reliability and steadfastness. However Taurus can be so rooted that it becomes very difficult to move them. They are like a plant that is embedded so deeply into the ground it takes nothing but brute force to uproot him or her, and they simply refuse to let go.

If you disrespect the Taureans sense of roots it will cause the bull to charge. The more you push the bull the stronger his or her resistance and the more firm and resolute they become. You have to really dig deep to move Taurus, and they like to do things slowly; and most of them tend to operate under the expression “slowly but surely”. The downside of their inability to budge is that they can be accused of being “predictable”, and there is a tendency of becoming stuck in life, stagnating with no attempt at further growth. The opposite sign of Taurus is Scorpio, and they thrive on change. The sign of Scorpio is ruled by the planet Pluto where everything is cleared away and anything standing in its path is destroyed so that it can be rebuilt. This is very unnerving for Taurus who tends to resist any form of change to its environment.

Taurus has strong roots in tradition, and there is often a love of the old, antique, and anything that is solid and valuable. Things that have a sense of permanence and can be relied upon. One of the great talents of Taurus is the ability to sustain jobs, relationships, and sense of security, they put roots down in one place, and make it their own, and they are over-endowed with common sense. Even in relationships they root themselves in one place and it often takes a martial eruption and some kind of underground earthquake in his or her relationship to move them. Some Taureans will stay in unhappy marriages for a long time than risk the uncertainty of change. Taurus seeks a stable relationship, one that is unchanging, and holds a sense of permanence.

Possessiveness is something to look out for in these relationships, and they hold on tightly to what they have. It might make some Taurean partners feel more like a valued possession, than a person in their own right. Taurus is predisposed to engaging in the process of accumulation, whether of material, objects, money or people. Jealousy often manifests as a fear of losing something that one holds dear. Another saying for Taurus would be: What’s mine is mine. They care about love and loyalty, need plenty of physical contact and affection in relationships, and emotional stability, financial security, and enjoying the familiarity of it all. But Taurus, ruled by Venus, is uncontrollably monopolizing and dangerously hot tempered once he or she sees “red”.

“The arts of love and satisfaction of desire can unite man and woman in harmonious sexuality and a happy wedded life. But on the other hand they can generate rivalries, jealousies and passions that acutely threaten the relations between individuals, kinship groups and even nations.” By Liz Greene

Trouble may arise when a partner wants to change things, and the Taurean remains stubborn. This may bring about arguments, and if you lock horns with Taurus it can lead to great passions and fights and the partner is often pushed into losing their temper. Taureans “wait and see” attitude might lead to destruction out of pure frustration in the partner and his or her unlived desires. Taurus will wait, wait, and wait. You will deeply treasure their consistency, and the fact that they can be counted on through difficult and changing times, but the bullheaded kind of person doesn’t change their minds easily. The reason they are not so quick to take risks is that they don’t like making decisions that cannot be undone later. In Taurus there is always a sense of permanence, even if this means they are in danger of fighting against positive changes.

Taureans are famous for their stubbornness and obstinacy and they seem to go about everything in the same unchanged, unhurried and unruffled manner. They become a permanent and immovable fixture in any relationship, job, or home. Sometimes it may feel as if it is nothing but unreasonableness and deep inflexibility. Taurus is a persistent sign and they can persist in their stubbornness for a long time, and will not move unless there is a definite reason to do so.

Another image for the sign of Taurus and one of the most profound symbols for security in our society is money. One of the most popular themes in literature is that wealth renders the powerless powerful and the unlovable loveable. Money is viewed as one of basic needs to survival, and everybody has a fundamental need for security. However, having planets in Taurus this central need is rooted deep into the personality, and in arms with its opposing sign Scorpio (ruler of all change), it is believed that wealth is a great transforming agent. Money can buy us the good life, the best food, home comforts and these are all things that Taurus values.

Sometimes Taurus suffers from terrible fears that they might lose everything, and might not have enough to sustain them, and feel something terrible is going to happen and they will lose all security. To Taurus security is fixed in a recognizable form and is safe and inviolable. When they are pushed, the sign we could hardly get moving becomes unstoppable. All that strength and power it took to remain secure is now refocused on protecting their territory, especially when i is threatened by change, betrayal or an erring partner, they will snort, blow steam out of their ears, stomp and charge to protect anything that belongs to them, including partners. Taurus is one of the strongest zodiacal signs, and although they appear placid and unruffled they may need to come face to face with the destructive beast within.

“But the tyrant monster of which Campbell writes is the challenge of Taurus, its dark face which must at some point be met in life. The earthy power which allows the tyrant to accrue wealth, as Minos gathered wealth and power over the seas, is the gift of Taurus; but the dilemma lies in his relationship with the god, and which god it serves, the deity or himself. The story of Minos ends in a stagnant situation, where the destructive monster lies at the heart of the apparently abundant realm.” By Liz Greene

Pluto's Transformation

One of the most common keywords describing Pluto is transformation. When I think of transformation I can’t help but imagine shards of light breaking through an individual at the time when a permanent and rewarding change is happening. In the book - Relating by Liz Greene she refers to a Pluto mythologem where the king must descend beneath the earth, to consummate a union, and at the moment of ecstasy, he dies, and is torn to pieces and devoured by the dark woman with whom he has united. Astrologically Pluto transits can change our lives significantly, but then again transformation is a Pluto word and it’s much bigger than change. Even so, no human being can progress without change, and under difficult transits of Pluto there may be a necessity for change and alteration in personality and character.

Sometimes the process of transformation involves undertaking a journey into the underworld, and this may involve the darker aspects of life and psychological being. The return to the upper world suggests renewal and transformation has taken place. But does meeting trauma naturally lead to growth and development? Pluto is the “giver of wealth and involves some final letting go, and moving on. By entering "The Dark Night of the Soul" and journeying to the very depths – a journey which is inevitability painful, for it forces us to confront our psychological complexes. Pluto challenges us to penetrate our being until we find renewed strength, but through-out this process we are left emotional, vulnerable and exposed and enduring an intolerable amount of pain. Yet these are the characteristics believed to be present when a transformation is imminent.

Pluto sweeps everything clean and when the whole thing is removed it offers us the chance of starting a new life. Pluto says “Let’s get rid of it all and start all over”. Matters involving Pluto’s natal house and aspects become too intense and passionate because it usually matters so much. Pluto needs to merge and uniting our energy fully (not superficially) is an important part of the process. Deep impenetrable changes cannot really happen in Pluto’s house unless we really want them. We need to feel an urgent desire behind the need for transformation, and sometimes it takes a massive trauma and underground eruption to bring us to such a turning point, crisis and resolve?

Pluto is associated with the extremes of life, death power, and sex. The process of life, death and rebirth is the ultimate transformation. In death our body decays and soul emerges from it, and soars above the material world. Pluto represents the deeper will at work in all of us; there is a sense that we are freed from one form into a new life. The positive aspect of Pluto’s transformation is living a more deeper and enriched life. Pluto is a fixed planet and is focused, intense and determined and changes are lasting and profound. There might be a quality of depth that is needed beyond superficial layers, bringing a new stage of life. Something about our former lives will change, and we draw upon latent abilities that have always been present all along but were undeveloped, hidden from view, and repressed. Pluto represents the area where we are blocked, and need to be freed by developing a new attitude and relinquishing old structures. Pluto can feel like some kind of fate, and make us believe that we are stuck in an inevitable situation with no way out, when it fact, Pluto is the bearer of transformation, and is saying that it’s time for change.

The Best Way to Learn Astrology

I have been involved with the different mediums new students approach when first learning astrology, and have learnt the pros and cons of each. To begin, astrology forums, although they are fun and interactive, they are not really the best place to gain knowledge on the subject. There are far too many varying points of view, different branches of astrology and irrelevant chat. I began in a forum and have always enjoyed communicating my ideas. I was a forum moderator, and was keen on participating, but generally it’s not the best place for learning.

Blogs are a happy medium and more focused on the subject at hand. Most blogs have an individual writer, with their own style and direction and you will probably find one that you love reading. The best thing about blogs is that they are free to read, and usually kept up-to-date. Astrology blogs and are like web-zines that are filled with content daily, weekly, or monthly depending on the writer. The negatives are there isn’t always a lot of an in-depth interpretation or readings. Astrological websites fall into same category, but are usually less personal and more structured, and many tend to have considerably less content than blogs. If you have visited a professional astrologer’s website there are usually two or three articles on the whole site. Working, professional astrologers/writers probably don't have the time to create content for their website.

Books are the number one way to learn astrology, and you should purchase them, rather than buy lessons online from the web. Observation is another great way to keep practicing astrology, and to keep a record of what happens. Many astrologers recommend the use of following transits to the natal chart as the fastest way to understand astrology. Memorization of astrological interpretations can be difficult, so keep notes of the most important things you want to remember. Usually mere memorization of what a configuration means teaches you little. When you put astrology into action and see it working in the lives of others, this is when you really learn the subject, but it doesn’t mean you suddenly turn into an astrology professor. The best way is usually learning first hand.

Applying astrology to daily events and large ones and reading as many charts as possible is a good way to tackle the subject. You need to memorize the astrological glyphs for the signs and planets and basic keywords, and the same goes for remembering the general meaning of the houses. It also makes it easier to read astrology books, blogs and websites. Once you know the basic keywords of astrology you really do see astrology come alive everywhere. Astrology is like a foreign language, but it is also universal. Astrology is built up from symbolism and no matter what country or language of the student; we can recognize these same symbols and know its meaning. All astrologers have a common language and common knowledge. Astrology uses ageless personality insights that can be interpreted time and time again.

Astrology is a life-long study and the more you learn about astrology the more you learn about yourself. I like astrology because I find human behaviour absorbing, and self-discovery is a life-long journey.

My Ex Moon in Scorpio – His Bloody Revenge

After my previous post on Scorpio, the 8th house and Pluto – Black Magic, Family Curses and Bad-Luck, it got me thinking about my ex-partner who had his Moon in Scorpio. He was one the one I was involved with in an abusive relationship for three years, and the connection unfolded when transiting Pluto was square my natal Sun in the seventh house of relationships. Whenever all hell broke loose he would curse at me and hope that terrible things would happen, and basically wanting me to **** off and die. I hate being so graphic about the nature of his reaction in the relationship, but this is how he would respond.

What is it about his Scorpio side that wished such ill-feelings towards another?  I am not saying he really meant what he said, but in the heat of the argument it sure looked like he intended every single word. I am not trying to paint Scorpio’s character black, but I found this particular Moon in Scorpio was dearly hoping I would meet some horrible fate. It may reflect his difficulty of not knowing what to do with all his powerful Scorpion feelings. Psychologists believe that revenge is an essential factor in the interplay between victim and perpetrator. Revenge is usually motivated by the powerful feelings of hatred, but revenge acts are significantly less than the fantasies of ‘getting back’ at someone. In couples relationships it can be a common theme especially during a difficult and painful separation. I was reflecting on the possible reasons for his imaginings of a terrible fate inflicted upon my dear soul, and the usual list of Scorpio keywords came to mind. In no particular order of preference:

1. Revenge (and revenge is a dish best served cold)
2. Need for Justice and being handed out the right kind of death to justify all the deep feelings of pain they feel inside – Eye for an eye. You will feel the extent of how much I hurt, etc.
3. A powerful need for vengeance when feeling deeply wronged by someone
4. Regaining a sense a power. Scorpio needs to feel in control
5. Being Humiliated/Scorpio has an intense amount of pride
6. A gut reaction against trauma, shame, denigration and loss

Most people believe the best form of revenge is taking back your life, living it to the full and being the best you can be. However, knowing my ex, he would probably still go for a long, slow and painful death scene :p. To be loved and hated by a Scorpion, there is no feeling like it in the world.

Scorpio, 8th House and Pluto –Black Magic, Family Curses and Bad-Luck

A little bit of black magic is mixed in with the astrological meanings behind Scorpio, the 8th house and Pluto, and it often involves themes of walking through the fires of hell; an opportunity for a magical transformation and even being reborn again. As you can see there are some hefty descriptions, metaphors and symbols allocated to these kinds of astrology patterns in the natal chart.

Personally, I have always fallen for Scorpio types in my own relationships, and he has either had Sun, Moon or Ascendant in Scorpio. Maybe they have worked some of their sexy black-magic over me, and I can tell you that the pull has certainly been irresistible. As a Venus-Pluto person I am prone to falling under Hades hypnotic gaze, penetrating force and physical magnetism, but do Scorpio’s really possess a kind of magic, the kind that makes icy shivers run up and down your spine, and a peculiar form of black magic that they weave so well? Still, for all of Scorpio's allure, appeal and intrigue I have often felt cursed by ex-Scorpio lovers after a falling out, and have had the feeling that they could probably strike me down dead with one icy-cold stare. I have found that with Scorpio types they almost dare you to cross them by sending out a psychic warning that you will pay the price for it.

We all have the ability to sense negative energy, especially when other people hold ill-will towards us, and intense feelings directed our way retain an extreme amount of power. A Scorpio out for revenge may seem as if they are out to cause you deadly harm, but aren't there times in life that most of us wish ill on others because they have treated us so badly, hurt us deeply or even someone we love. On a purely psychological level, Scorpio the 8th house and Pluto need some sense of retribution, and a feeling that justice has been served.

According to psychological astrology the 8th house and Pluto are significators of “The Family Curse”. I would even take a wild stab in the dark and guess that many people who feel that their lives have been cursed are either powerfully Scorpio, 8th house or Pluto individuals. This belief might reflect on the old biblical saying that the sins of the father are revisited on the son, but there are people who feel that they are carrying negativity or a family curse that is preventing them from success. Usually family members pass on this feeling that the family is cursed in some way, and impressionable children find it difficult to let go of this energy.

However, how do we explain why some people really do have a run of bad-luck that cannot be explained, and their kind of "fate" may involve painful separations, death, divorce, or the destruction of everything that is valued in life. Even multiple divorces are thought to be a generational curse on a family, and these people may have had parents who went through the same thing, and something negative keeps forcing them apart. Take Elizabeth Taylor, (married 8 times) she has an 8th house Pluto (destiny) square a Venus-Uranus conjunction (Venus rules relationships). If we look back on her dramatic and colourful life experiences it would appear that part of her fate involved sudden separations, domestic abuse, compulsive relationships, and even the death of a partner.

The curse of the Kennedy family brought about much speculation on the nature of a family’s biological inclination towards trouble by drawing all kinds of catastrophes in their lives. Although I feel it may involve stopping a negative cycle, and healing some kind of family rift, past trauma or crisis. It is like the negative cycle of abuse, violence, substance or alcohol misuse that is passed down through family members. A family curse is described as a bondage passed down from one generation to the next, and it might well be about taking back our personal power. The placement of Pluto in the natal chart and the aspects it forms may make us feel as if we are damned to some kind of bad fate in this area. We even curse our misfortune, bad luck and disasters.

Astrologer Linda Goodman called Scorpio - victims of their own black magic:

With them supreme self-sacrifice becomes neurotic concerns about the self, and psychic abilities become fearful apprehensions of the lurking evils which may strike you at any moment.

The rituals of black magic reflected the individuals desire to control universal forces larger than himself. By learning and uniting the specific methods, techniques and rituals of black magic, this individual effected a transformation of his egocentric desire: By Jeff Green, Pluto and the Evolutionary Journey

It is believed that black magic is a form of psychic control, but it all depends how we define black magic. James Van Praagh with his stellium of planets in the 8th house and his renowned psychic communication with the dead, could be described as practicing a form of black magic and might even be accused of possessing some kind of occult power. I once watched a film about psychics and many of these people felt their profound gift was a curse on their lives. The power may have inherited from their grandmother or some other relative in the past, but they often felt that having such insight into the other side of life was a curse and not a blessing.

A lot of psychic controlling attributes are often associated with Scorpio, the 8th house and Pluto - the dark arts, hypnotic control, psychic attack, voodoo and black magic. Astrologers associate Sagittarius and Jupiter with the aspect of fortune, benefits and good-luck, but Scorpio (preceding sign) is linked to trauma, death, crisis and just plain old bad-luck. How much of this can be changed is perhaps in our own hands, and it might even be of help to gain a psychological awareness of such patterns running through our horoscope.

If the forces of Scorpio are frustrated, the way to success is barred, there is usually a recourse to cunning, duplicity, secretiveness and treachery, if for no other reason than that the expression of influence and the attainment of ones rights is an absolute necessity, without which there is always, as is obvious the tendency toward envy, malice, revenge, which have been such active motives in past times, when so many people suffered abominably from misuse of power.
Black magic or witchcraft belongs here, while I do not mean to go into the question as to how much truth there may be in the possibility of hurting or destroying others by such sinister means, except to remark that we know little about the “project magnetism” or individuals, it is true that witchcraft was assigned as the cause of many misfortunes whose origins was totally misunderstood. That people do sometimes affect one another to an extraordinary degree is indisputable, as, for instance, in the case of love or hatred. By Walter H Sampson - Zodiac a Life Epitome

An Astrological Analogy: Next Installment

I do enjoy reading astrological analogies, and so here are some more interesting ways to describe various planets, chart configurations and signs.

Neptune as a Symbol and Psychic Billboard

A symbol isn’t just a metaphor. It provokes an immediate and overwhelming response. Like a symbol. You have an innate ability to stir the unconscious waters in just about everyone you meet. Have you ever noticed how often people come up to you and ask if you have met before? You may remind them of someone, but they can’t quite recollect who. That's your Ruling Planet’s glamour at work. As a child of Neptune you are a natural screen for others’ projections. When they look at you, they see the embodiment of their hopes and wishes. Like the Sirens of myth, you become the ideal partner, friend, love interest, or employee. This is wonderful if you happen to be a fashion model or spokesperson, because what your Birthday Planet does is transform you into a psychic billboard. By Christopher Renstrom – Ruling Planets

Scorpio's Cleaning out of the Augean Stables and Past Lives

A lifetime with Sun, Moon, or Ascendant in Scorpio can be much like cleaning the Augean Stables of the accumulated debris of incarnations. Scorpio faces the challenge of habits entrenched for lifetimes which are difficult to transform. This is particularly true if there are many planets in the other fixed signs. Through the fixed squares and oppositions, attachments to people, ideas, or to one’s work, must be confronted. If, as Hindus believe, we choose our time of birth freely, then Scorpio’s are brave souls. Mars gives them a good deal of courage, as well as a passionate nature. By Kathleen Burt – Archetypes of the zodiac

Pluto - A Blocked Hosepipe - LET IT GO

What is ‘bad’ can be likened to something blocking a hosepipe, with the hosepipe being your life-track, the tap it is connected to being the Source, and the nozzle being your point of expression in the moment. What originally blocked the hosepipe was something you did that was Condemned or Censored and therefore made to feel shameful about. From that point on this ‘ piece of dirt’ accumulated more and more guilt and shame, with progressively less and less water to wash it through and come out of the nozzle. To unblock the hosepipe, first you have to track back to what originally caused it, that censure or disapproval that produces more and more of same, LET IT GO and then deal with the fact that the first thing to come out of the end of an unblocked hose is dirty, foul-smelling water. The reaction can be to turn off the hose at the nozzle end, that is, again to disown your power, but this is the last thing you should do because you would be falling into the same trap of being made to feel bad in the first place. Neptune and the Needy Mother-Child Relationship

Because the young Neptunian intuits unspoken cues as a good actor intuits the ebb and flow of the audience’s interest, it is precisely this emotionally gifted child who will suffer most from an overly needy mother. The message is clear enough: Do not exist separately from me, for without you I have nothing and am nothing, and you are the only salvation for my misery and loneliness. What receptive child could resist such a plea? Certainly not Neptune’s children….thus the Neptunian child may assume the onerous task of redeeming the mother. This can become a theme in adult life, where the identification with victim-saviour leads the individual in attempting to “save” a damaged or ill partner. By Liz Greene – The Astrological Neptune and the Quest for Redemption

Families as Organisms

Families are organisms, and the psychic life of an enmeshed family is a closed circle within which ancient and often violent emotional dramas are enacted in the secret darkness of the unconscious. Nothing is seen until the ‘disturbed’ child is taken for professional help, and then, terribly slowly and often against strenuous opposition, the threads that weave the tale are disentangled and what looked like an individual ‘illness’ becomes increasingly apparent as an unresolved family complex. We have met facets of this problem already in the two examples I gave of Venus-Pluto and Mars-Pluto, for in the lives of both Caroline and Ruth, the sexual and emotional difficulties of the parents and grandparents are somehow ‘passed’ on to the child, and work as a fate in the child’s life. Pluto is a particular significator of a particular kind of experience…problems of a sexual nature, or of an instinctual nature generally, seems represented as family complexes by Pluto. By Liz Greene – The Astrology of Fate.

The Angles are the Cross of Incarnation – Staked to Earth

The angles are the cross of incarnation. This is where we are staked to the earth. Not everyone has planets on the angles, and not everyone is required to embody archetypal energies in this way. But if there is a planet within orb of conjunction of an angle, on either side of the angle, the individual must find a way to give shape to the planet. If not, the planet will embody itself, and then we feel at the mercy of powerful forces in the outer world that we believe are shaping our destiny without our consent. By Liz Greene – Apollo’s Chariot – The Meaning of the Astrological Sun

Yods Acting as an Understudy for a Famous Actress

I look at yods positively. I equate them to somebody who is an understudy for a famous actress or actor and who fills in for the star one night and becomes an overnight sensation. That is how a yod operates. I have one and that is how it has worked in my life. When I was a new astrologer, my yod was being set off and my life changed…My career has flourished ever since… Something life-altering always happens when my yod is activated. Yods are configurations which change your life, but they do not drive you. By Carol Rushman – The Art of Predictive Astrology.

Bad Weather - Bad Aspects

In any case, “good” and “bad” are ambiguous words. Sometimes we use them in a moral sense; sometimes we mean them only what we happen to like or dislike, as when we speak of good or bad food or weather. Some use words constructive and destructive, but these, though often appropriate, are by no means always so. One of the things most noticeable about the good aspects is that they are conformative ;they tend to make the subject swim with the tide, or, like Mr Pickwick, to shout with the larger crowd. On the other hand the “bad” ones make the native out of tune with his surroundings-shall we say incompliant?-which may enhance his moral reputation but not his comfort. Then the opposition and square are usually stronger than the trine and sextile and so lead to extremes. From this point of view temperate and excessive seem appropriate terms. By Charles Carter – Essays on the Foundations of Astrology

Transits and a Train Schedule

Just like a train schedule a commuter may glance on the way to work, an astrological chart will reveal the name and nature of energetic conveyances coming down the track, when they are expected to arrive and depart, where they are heading and when they are supposed to complete their passages. What makes it really hard to read an astrological chart – a representation of the planets and other heavenly bodies as seen from a specific point on earth at a given moment in time-is that the astrological chart incorporates every perceivable energy “engine” in the universe simultaneously on a shifting basis, with all the engines in constantly varying kinetic relationships to one another, and all positioned against wavering and virtually limitless backdrop of space, history, and behavioural possibility. Certainly the complexity is compounded further by the fact that, whether one comes down on the side of fate or free will, there will always be a fair amount of subjectivity in the ascription of meaning to the passenger’s purpose and outcome in making the trip. Loss of Stats Provider: Free My Stats - Mars in Aquarius is Annoyed

My free account at w3 counter has terminated my traffic counter. I can see how much traffic the site has received, but that is about as detailed as it gets, and it blocks me from entering my stat reports. I got notified a couple of months ago that if my site kept on expanding I would have to pay for a premium account. I am not paying for something that you can get for free elsewhere.

I wish I had this blog's birth chart to analyze the changes. It's not the end of the world, but it means I have no access to my yearly stats, records and progress for this year.

The transiting Sun is about to enter Virgo and is opposite my Mars in Aquarius in the 6th house right now, and Virgo rules analyzing, data, and service and Aquarius rules computers, groups of people networked together through the internet. The nature of the opposition creates friction between these two parties. Though It sounds like an election, the way I have just described it. Vote for Sun in Virgo or the opposing party Mars in Aquarius! The boundary loving, attention to detail and service orientated Virgo or in the opposing corner we have Aquarius who is shouting "free my web stats, you bastard" lol. Oh well, I will have to find some other FREE stats service provider. The Sun-Mars opposition in transit may represent days when things irritate us, or we are personally angered. I am not overly annoyed, it's just annoying. O.K Sun-Mars rant over...I do have a rebellious Mars in Aquarius square Uranus and could very well start a riot. Mars in Aquarius fights for freedom, free-will and lack of restrictions .

The Cats of the Zodiac: Libra, Scorpio, Sagittarius, Capricorn, Aquarius and Pisces

Libra

The Libra cat is a people person and her personality is motivated towards establishing good relationships with others. The single life is an incomplete one to Libra and so she needs to relate. The first six signs of the zodiac focused on the individual, while the second half turns their attention outward. Such a pussy cat needs to live in a harmonious environment, and is immediately aware of any imbalance. Libra has a natural charm that is instantly inviting, and you will feel that this kitty really likes you, and she really does see something positive and lovable in everybody.

Pussy galore may flutter her eyelashes at you because she loves flattery, and is usually very aware of her appearance. This is also another Venusian cat that likes to be surrounded by beautiful things, whether its art, fabrics, luxurious floral displays, she is not fond of rough, ugly or dirty conditions. The Librian kitty is very sociable and companionable and feels happiest in the company of others. The liking for the opposite sex is usually very noticeable in this sign.

Just because the Librian cat is quite attractive to have around this doesn’t mean that she lacks intelligence, she is not just some piece of fluffy bundle of fur, Libra is an active sign intellectually and it is believed that she possesses both opposite sexes within her. This kitty is comfortable with both her femininity and her cat-like intelligence.

Libra also likes sitting on the garden fence, and may not choose one side over the other. You have one of the more civilised and elegant cats on your hands, and she is unlikely to be deliberately cruel and injure another. Libra has an inability to deal with unpleasant situations, and negative emotions in the environment. However, just having her around makes people want to come together in harmony and she knows how to bridge opposites and smooth any household conflict over, turning her place of residence into a sanctuary of beauty, peace and a generally pleasant atmosphere.

Scorpio

The Scorpio cat is one you can safely bare your soul to, but the way she stares at you, it’s like she already knows all your closely guarded secrets. Though she may only appoint a few trusted companions in her household, and ones that she knows deep enough to express her dark and passionate nature.

Scorpio is a deeply emotional cat, so don’t be afraid of real relating. There is nothing superficial about this moggy, and she does not take intimacy lightly. The Scorpio cat is intense about life and people, and looks for deep meaning in all her interactions.

Some people may get a bit spooked out about her, and often she appears to possess a magical and mysterious power. Scorpio is subtle, complex and never obvious. Some unfairly label Scorpio as a vicious and violent cat, but many observations are unfairly warranted:"An examination of 34 cases of violent crimes (admittedly an insufficient number, but nevertheless enough to merit consideration) shows that the number of bodies in Scorpio is actually below the average, whilst a Scorpio Ascendant is frequent in cases of outstanding success. It seems well in any discussion of this sign, to begin with a clearing of its character." By Charles Carter

The Scorpio cat is monogamous and loyal and if you are the lucky chosen one she wants to share her life with, she will put you above all other relationships. This is how much you mean to her, but mock her sensitivity and feelings for intimacy, you may never see her again, and expect her to withdraw completely. All the famous possessiveness, pride and intensity also exist within her profound nature. This kitty will share in your pain and will be there in the most traumatic times of your life. Scorpio is unflinching about the raw emotional aspects of relating, and where others signs will not be able to deal with the horrors of life, her strength of will, courage and loyalty are second to none.

Sagittarius

The Sagittarius cat is ruled by the planet Jupiter, the king of the gods and the largest planet in our solar system. In mythology Zeus was always chasing after something, and usually women, so this kind of tom-cat may be the father to thousands of kittens. This feline is restless and hungry for experience, and needs personal freedom to an extraordinary degree, and likes to meet exciting people along his journey. I would not try to over-domesticate this kitty, because he will find a way out.

Sagittarius is also incredibly lucky so get him to kiss your lottery ticket, or even better, get him to help you choose the numbers. Sagittarius may also be very religious, so a nice devout family may suit him well. We may even find many a Sagiitarian cat living in churches or travelling with gypsies, he needs to feel that he is moving all the time. Sagittarius likes to feel like the whole world is an open door, and he is very independent, and many a cat is often jealous of his fun and interesting lifestyle.

Sagittarius is the most volatile of the fire signs and is forever pushing the boundaries, seeing just what he can get away with. Being larger than life he tends to miss what is right under his little button nose, and may even bump into things. However, being so far sighted he can see long off into the horizon towards the next big adventure in his life.

Though you may sometimes feel as if he is giving you a judgmental look, he does have the tendency to be blunt and certainly isn’t opinionless. Sometimes he is pretty right about what he intuits. Sagittarius has a belief in life, and never loses hope for the future, and he will bring more expansiveness and luck into your home, as long as you always keep the back door open for him to explore the world outside, so he knows he can come and go as he pleases.

Capricorn

The Capricorn cat would probably do well in a business-like family, she is often mature beyond her years and may display an unusual seriousness even as a kitten. Life is a serious business fur this one, and she has a deep sense of responsibility towards the family. This cat seems to possess an innate wisdom and understanding about the world that far surpasses her age. The Capricorn feline is the unseen power behind any household; she values support and security and has a managing instinct that other cats cannot even compare with. It is believed Capricorn’s age backwards, so rent Brad Pitt’s (stellium in Capricorn) movie “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button” and she will surely appreciate the significance behind it. As she ages her spirit seems to become lighter, and she lets go of carrying the heavy burdens like she did in her tender years, and perhaps becomes tougher as time passes.

This kitty values hard-work, persistence, and reliability, and she may set herself goals like climbing the top of a mountain, exploring barren, stony slopes. Each and every step is evaluated, calculated, and cleverly contemplated before she has even stepped on to her path. It is not always easy to get to know her straight away, she has learned to keep a part of herself guarded, and has a certain level of mistrust. Sometimes there are complex issues with authority figures early on, and she may have had caretakers who tried to control or dominate her, but sometimes they provide too much for her.

The Capricorn cat needs to learn to stand on her own four feet, rely on her own strengths through her own efforts; she is self-disciplined with a realistic head. It is hard to fool this cat; she’s knows a lot about the real world out there. There is a preoccupation in this sign for survival, struggle and testing. The Capricorn kitty is a most reliable companion and she has the enormous strength and power of the earth.

Aquarius

The Aquarius (water bearer) cat would suit being in an environment where the humans are humanitarians trying to find the answers to mankind’s woes, because she believes in the common good. This kitty might like to hang around the local council, committees and progressive groups and places of great architecture.

The Aquarian is a little genius, but she may appear as if she is living in the future and
not really grounded in the here and now, and is not always realistic. Perhaps she likes gazing at the night sky for astronomical or astrological purposes, she may like sitting next to the computer and looks genuinely interested about the workings of many systems – technological and universal.

Aquarius is the water bearer who represents the bringing of knowledge, so she needs to be around people who share this vision, but she doesn’t usually like getting her own paws wet (a cat being a far-sighted visionary is a hard thing to believe, but just play along). The Aquarius cat may sometimes give the impression of being a touch impersonal and detached, she might even appear unconventional, and she is usually independent, expressing herself in a calm, civilised and removed manner.

Aquarius is capable of immense loyalty and dedication, but she may find it hard to express her personal needs and may possess a sort of rigid pride. Your promethean cat is filled with both mind and spirit and she is quite a liberal cat to have around, she is an inspiring companion in any household, and is quite fond of observing human behaviour. Aquarius enjoys the company of others, and are friendly and she may choose or be drawn to interesting, unusual or slightly eccentric owners.

Pisces

The Pisces cat may enjoy being by the ocean, or watching the fishes in the garden pond, she doesn’t want to attack them, but longs to join in. All creatures have originated from water and the Pisces cat longs to return. To love this moggy is to love her sometimes confusing nature, impenetrable depths and changing moods, but behind her eyes lies the beauty of the ocean.

The Piscean feline is a dreamy looking creature, and she may come across as a complex and otherworldly being. The Pisceans characteristics involve hidden watery depths, sudden storms, and strong shifting currents. She lives in the deepest waters of the human psyche (don’t roll your eyes, a cat can be deep and mysterious) and she is a very compassionate, feeling and sensitive kitty. Often very misunderstood, her motivations are not always clearly seen by others.

On the surface she may seem helpless and weak and her owner may feel they have to protect this vulnerable kitty because she doesn’t appear be all that worldly. Watch out she doesn’t play on her ability to attract sympathy, but she can generally feel victimized in life, and get herself into some terrible scrapes, and she can’t always claw her way out, so she is always needs some form of rescuing. Sometimes she lets out a pitiful meow that melts even the hardest of hearts, and there is a softness about her that is completely enchanting. Pisces whirlpool eyes express the inner yearnings of her soul (she is one bottomless kitty) and she has an unusual, but demonstrative silence. There is a great mystery behind her quietness, and elusive charm.

A Pisces cat doesn’t cope well with limitations, and at times it may appear as if she has transformed into many different characters, and slips into other roles rather too easily. Our Piscean feline may also disappear frequently, so she can be quite unfathomable, but usually she is evasive in spirit, but sometimes disappears physically for a while to refresh herself. Pisces will make a devoted, gentle and tender companion, so treat her fragility with care.

The Cats of the Zodiac: Aries, Taurus, Gemini, Cancer, Leo and Virgo

I had a little fun with some different images for the zodiac and so these readings are not just strictly for cats, and they also relate to humans. It is just another way to describe the twelve signs. I am a cat lover and each one I have owned has had a distinct personality. Each cat has also met very a different fate in life, and this might be reflected by their own individual chart. Let’s move onto the astrology and see the cats of the zodiac in action.

ARIES

Aries is a cardinal fire sign, the positive sign of Mars and the exaltation of the Sun. The Aries cat is the pioneer and leader of the zodiac; she is characterized by her extreme activity and zest for life. There is courage, daring, and an heroic nature here. Given all her energy for life, you shouldn’t underestimate her intellectual powers; Aries rules the head and all the organs of the head including the brain.

The Aries type is looking for excitement and adventure and rushes head-long at her goal with little more than an initial spark and she loves a challenge, so don’t expect her to sit quietly in the kitchen, sleeping all day. Being passive is not the nature of a pure fire cat; she is ferociously independent, and extremely competitive, and she often prefers the company of Toms.

On a bad day she might just be spoiling for a fight with others, and will not compromise, she is high spirited and assertive, and may run roughshod over other cats feelings, be a little bossy and throw a hissy fit, but there is a good reason for her extreme defiance:

Aries is the beginning. It is the simple assertion I am…It is simple consciousness of existence, and, being fire, it receives this fact intuitively and not by pondering upon self and not-self. Later on transcendental philosophies may speak of the merging of the soul into All, of losing the self to win the Self, of the sense of at-one-ness with all things. Nothing is further from the Arietic instinct. It is most certain that it is a distinct being, not only separate from all else, but not linked at all closely by sympathy or affection. By Charles Carter

Now it’s unlikely she will be pondering philosophically (being a cat and all), but she sure realizes that she is an individual cat. Aries will fight for the ones she loves, and devotes herself to them, she is herself, her own cat and you can’t help but have such admiration for such a fierce feline.

TAURUS

The Taurus cat tends to inertia, but she is easily contented, and enjoys the simple things in life. Easily the most affectionate feline of the zodiac, she likes her body to be stroked, massaged and enjoys nice aromas around the home. A Taurean is attuned to the natural rhythms of the earth and enjoys being out in nature, spending time in the garden, and getting dirt under her claws. Taurus has to be wary of over-indulging in her pleasures (ruled by Venus) because she likes to be surrounded by pleasing, soothing things and beauty. Possible pastimes for this moggy are sex, shelter and food. Reliability is her strong point, and she eats, sleeps and mates according to her own natural cycle, and will not be pushed.

Watch for her possessiveness, she is a fixed sign and does not let go easily. You may find that she is possessive of her owner, favourite toys and may not want to give up (or budge from) her favourite seat in the house. The Taurean cat has a need for old established routines and focuses on the security and practical necessities of life. Taurus doesn’t like change and she is typically stubborn, and if forced to change, may react violently.

The Taurus cat is devoted, and usually loyal – provided that you take care of her, and spoil her. Slow, steady, and practical she makes a life-long commitment and tends to stay in the same place for a long time. Once she has made up her mind nothing short of some kind of underground eruption will change it. A lovable creature, she is a delight to be around as long as you don’t provoke her, and material security and stability are important to her. Here is a feline who acts in a very “earthy “manner, and the Taurean type also has a good sense of colour and of music, and she may possess a beautiful meow.

GEMINI

The Gemini cat enjoys talking, going on short journeys, and socializing. The third sign of the zodiac is the first of the human signs, and she is a very curious pussy. When the phone rings, or there is someone at the door and the mail has arrived she is very inquisitive, and fascinated by human variety. This slinky feline is of almost human intelligence, and she may enjoy chatting with you in her own little way.

A Gemini cat is youthful, always on the move, and strongly restless. A mutable, air sign tabby needs diversity and is reluctant to stay in one place, but she might suffer from nervous stress and tension from time to time. Gemini resents being trapped and needs freedom so give her air to breathe and space to explore. You have on your hands a very bright feline who is eager for every form of excitement, and experience, a real thrill-seeker.

Though, she is naturally changeable with a chameleon-like personality; always torn between two roads in life, she finds it difficult to choose one path over another, finding them both to have value. Some of this duality may have you believing that she is several different cats. At times it may appear that she is detached and she does tend to get bored easily. Playing games, tricks and talking to her are wonderful ways to keep her interested, otherwise she tends to become very unfocused and scattered. Gemini can be very mischievous, and is forever probing people and places, but she also has a flip side and doesn’t feel an inherent sense of commitment and duty.

It is easy to find immediate rapport with this kitty and she is light, entertaining and amusing. Be wary she doesn’t take things to pieces just to see how it works. Gemini cats learn quickly, she is charming and flirtatious and a fascinating companion.

Cancer

The Cancer cat may appear extremely timid and even helpless, and can be terribly prone to worry and anxiety. She will try to avoid any confrontation and when feeling unsafe will scurry to her favourite hiding place until she feels secure enough to come back out again. Cancer has a tough outer shell in order to protect the soft and vulnerable inner self from damage.

Once her emotions have been engaged she fully attaches herself to a much loved owner, but she can be clingy, and is happiest when feeling loved, protected and well fed. This little kitty may have a sensitive stomach so be careful what food you feed her. The Cancer cat is sensitive to its surroundings, and her emotional state will reflect the emotional atmosphere of the home. Cancer is the sign of the family, household or clan and she has deep sympathies for her nearest and dearest. The fourth sign of the zodiac has powerful maternal instincts, and her domestic side is usually strong; she is home loving and devoted to family, and she might not want to venture too far from her abode.

The Cancer feline hates major changes, and is more settled when she is in a familiar place and is at ease with the people she shares her home with, and she also has a great well of love for those she cares for. However, she is deeply fearful of loneliness and rejection. But I wouldn’t get too overly worried about her, as she has a surprising toughness, and is a true survivor.

Cancer is protective and emotional and her moods vary rapidly, so watch out for her moodiness (crabbiness) at times. The Cancer cat will pick up on the slightest emotional nuance, and if you are feeling upset, she deals gently with your bruised soul, snuggles next to you and is supportive in her own way.

Leo

The Leo cat has divine creative energy and she likes those forms of art which reflect her expression and great passions in life. This kitty needs a glorious and dramatic stage set, and has the kind of personal authenticity that nobody can match. This is no meek, mild colourless kitty; she is a queen and expects to be treated as one. Never take her for granted, she is the stable centre of any family.

The Leo Cat likes to lead the way in the household, and makes strong alliances with family members. A very confident and devotingly affectionate feline, this little kitty needs to be treated the right way, and thrives on attention and loves to receive praise. Leo doesn’t take kindly to being ignored, and has a need for an admiring audience, and won’t take an obscure position in her domiciliary. Only the noblest of palaces will suffice and she likes to be the shining centre of her abode.

The Leo type likes children and enjoys being out in the sunshine playing, and expressing her inner light. You can’t keep this miniature lion caged, because she needs room to express herself, and to be recognised and even worshipped. This kind of cat has the strongest claws and will make a scene if she is made a fool of by anybody, and there is no holding back with enemies. She is very passionate and territorial and you shouldn’t question the lion’s authority.

It is believed that Leo possesses the greatest amount of power, but this pussy’s weak spot is her vanity, and she is easily flattered. Sometimes she is a little snobbish, and doesn’t like to be embarrassed. If she falls off a fence don’t laugh at her, and try to keep her ego well protected. A Leo cat can be a little dramatic at times, even dominating, but she has the biggest heart, and brings light and warmth to any household. The Leo feline is special and she possesses great loyalty, generosity and strong sense of spirit.

Virgo

The Virgo Cat sees the small things in life, and she is able to find joy in things which seem miniscule and overlooked by others. Sometimes she may look at objects with a rather studying gaze as if she is analysing it piece by piece. This is a cat who likes to utilize her time in productive ways, and she might have some funny rituals and routines in her environment, and appear to have quite self-controlled mannerisms.

The Virgo cat knows instinctively when there is something unhealthy in the environment, and if you are feeling unwell she is the first to see if you are fine, and wants her loved ones to be as best and pure as they can. Our Virgo kitty might also enjoy watching you as you go around your daily tasks. Virgo has a profound sympathy with nature, and likes to study worms, birds, insects, trees and flowers. There is a huge mental hunger in Virgo and she loves to learn, especially about her immediate environment.

Virgo is usually quite well behaved, and her emotions are more restrained, she won’t be over-gushy and expresses her love in earthy ways, and doesn’t need to put on a show. This feline is extremely private, and resents any thoughtless intrusions of her personal boundaries, so you need to respect her separateness.

We have a very refined cat here, with a notably kind nature. Sometimes Virgo has some nit-picking habits and she might not always eat your choice of food, and may show some fussiness. Critical and extremely discriminating, there may be some narrowness in her approach. However, we do have an extremely intelligent creature here, showing capability and efficiency. Sometimes this Virgo cat reveals a high-strung nervous system (Virgo rules the stomach and digestive system). To conclude, this kitty-cat will love you for your flaws and imperfections, because underneath it all, she’s real down-to earth.

Next time - Libra, Scorpio, Sagittarius, Capricorn, Aquarius and Pisces cats.

Capricorn's Realism

We have all read about Capricorn’s realism, but where does it stem from? What is the meaning behind such pragmatism, level-headedness, and sensibleness? Capricorn represents such an earthly wisdom, and they size up any project to see if it can be accomplished. Both Taurus and Virgo also have realism, but Capricorn’s is on a worldly level, and if they think something is achievable they have the grit and determination to see it through. Capricorn is concerned with practical things like a career, long-term plans, establishing security. A typical Capricorn believes he or she should work hard for a living, and must be prepared for any unexpected set-backs.

Sometimes Capricorn's honesty is brutally harsh and they hate anybody wasting time. Therefore they may be perceived as a “wet blanket, “dampening any initial enthusiasm with too many earthly realities. They are always prepared for the worst and are quick to spot flaws, and think in practical, applicable terms. We might be all excited about a new plan and Capricorn will list all the possible things that could go wrong and approaches everything in a business-like manner. Capricorn is a realist and sees things as they are and would never want to be seen as foolish, they have far too much pride. They sometimes have the tendency of taking over a project, and put in the extra hours, but only because at the heart of every Capricorn is a deep fear of failure.

Capricorn knows what can or cannot be done in a certain time-frame. One thing you will learn quickly about Capricorns or even Saturnian people is that they learn to endure (stick with to the end), you can depend on them. Sometimes this comes across as a hardness wherein they don’t allow anyone to see their vulnerability and secret self-doubt. Capricorn is the backbone of the zodiac; they know the rules and never lose sight of their goals. Anything new arouses distrust, fearfulness and pessimism which inspire them to be cautious and realistic. Hard knocks throughout life has taught them about delay, death, loneliness, and has forced them to see things with no rose tinted specs.

Many have been forced through hard-ship to grow up quickly and develop a thicker skin. Capricorns understand that they live in a world that requires toughness and good survival capacities as well as realism and self-honesty. Capricorns don’t mind making mistakes because they learn from them, but they are destined to be hit by reality more often than not, and are deeply aware of mortality, limitations, and struggle. They don’t expect a bolt from heaven to shower them with opportunities and good luck. As over-clichéd as it sounds, they make their own good fortune. Life is hard and one must work doggedly to achieve anything, and such realism relies on understanding that one cannot have everything that one wants. Saturn (Capricorn's ruler) represents the old man who has no illusions left.

Moon-Saturn Transits: PUT ON YOUR BIG GIRL PANTIES AND DEAL WITH IT

I thought this was a pretty amusing picture and it transported me right back to my first ever relationship break-up, and the first time I had to really cope alone in life. This happened under transiting Saturn’s square to my natal Moon, and I had finally broken out a bad cycle with my boyfriend, and it was probably my first taste of the reality of having no-one to depend on but myself.

Moon-Saturn transits deal with our habits, emotional patterns, and the establishment of security bases. The Moon represents the exceedingly dependent parts of our nature which relies on the support of others. When Saturn aspects the Moon it often denotes an emotionally painful time in our lives and a period in life when we feel the lack of support from others (Saturn). All Saturn transits force us to grow up on a worldly level, but this particular transit is asking (or cruelly pushing) us to develop an inner sense of emotional self-reliance, and transits to the Moon will always signify new lessons in our emotional development.

The transit represents a time of emotional isolation, and we may feel we are carrying the burden alone, without help. Naturally it can lead to depressive feelings, a melanchostic dissatisfaction and bitter feeling. Life may feel as if it is imprisoning us in the environment. We may also feel inadequate to cope with our mounting duty, responsibility and obligation, and feeling confined to the domestic sphere, deprived of recognition for the support we provide. Facing our own dependency needs according to our Moon profile, and dealing with unresolved emotional patterns from the past.

Moon-Saturn transits force us to cut the umbilical cord and become an adult, to face up to our responsibilities. It will feel like an emotional labour, but it could also be a time to develop domestic authority, maybe by assuming responsibility and becoming the ‘head’ of the family. The transit implies that a change needs to take place from helplessness (Moon) to independence and self-sufficiency (Saturn). It is a difficult bridge to cross and half the battle during this transit is learning how to manage our personal life, developing our emotional self-sufficiency, resourceful and practical skills and persevering and fulfilling our duties. It is a good time for establishing some firm life foundations and successfully building a secure inner base. Emotional dependency (Moon) threatens our autonomous and self-sufficient image (Saturn), and the transit is made more difficult for those who possess the greatest dependence on others for counsel and support. Sometimes we have to do what is expected of us whether we like it or not, and under such a transit emotional support is hard to come by.

Moon-Saturn periods are often felt at a time when we need to separate from the support of our parents. Or we take on the role of being a parent, and take on greater family weight. We probably will feel let down and have to learn to fend for ourselves. Having to depend on others for emotional support provokes anxiety, which leads to profound feelings of vulnerability. We have to learn how we can provide adequate comfort and safety for ourselves, but there is still a powerful sense of loneliness under these transits. Astrologers have described the Moon-Saturn aspect as the orphaned child, someone who feels abandoned, left alone in the world, and their needs have gone unmet. Moon-Saturn aspects have difficulty showing vulnerable emotions to others, and they may barricade themselves from emotions and wall the self-off from any real close connection, and accepting help is at times challenging.

Overall, Moon-Saturn transits may be problematic and we feel more burdened by the weight of expectation and duty than usual. I have an upcoming progressed Moon square Saturn aspect, and transiting Saturn square Venus in Capricorn (Saturn’s sign). I should keep this picture on my fridge and when I feel like I cannot cope with all the extra burden, sense of isolation and greater responsibility, since I will be having a second child soon and my mother is moving into my house….I will put on my big girl panties and deal with it!

P.S I have written about Moon-Saturn transits in a previous post, so this an extension to my earlier writings on these changing developments in life.

How to Coax a Cancer Man Out of his Shell

Free Image Hosting
Astrologically Cancer is represented by a crab, a creature with a hard-outer-shell and a soft and tender underbelly. Therefore Cancer is easily bruised by life and prone to seeking self-protection. There is a profound sensitivity in this sign, and they need to know that you are dependable, and can be relied upon before opening up. Cancer needs to feel they can open up and express their feelings completely without being rejected. Regularly showing that you can be there for them when they need you is essential for a secure and happy crab. This almost goes without saying for every relationship, but Cancer more than any other sign needs these constant emotional reassurances. Before venturing outside and sharing their emotional selves, they first ask: “Is it safe?”  It is said the Cancer carries its home on its back, and usually this pertains to feeling emotionally safe, but they also dread the prospect of getting hurt.

The security needs of Cancer are powerful and they need to feel safe before they come outside. If Cancer feels insecure expect the shell to be tougher. You need to respect their on-going state of vulnerability, and so he will project a hard, crabby exterior on the outside. For Cancer they need emotional trust, and planets in this sign develop binding emotional attachments to people. It takes time for them to feel secure with others and there has to be a sense of familiarity, for what is known is comfortable and safe. Some TLC is always deeply appreciated, and he needs to feel that you really understand him. However, do be aware that his moods can easily shift, as Cancer is ruled by the Moon. The Moon’s phases, constantly shifting and changing, are a suitable image for the constant flow of moods, desires, feelings, fears and premonitions that bathe your Cancerian lover.

Perhaps luring him through his creative and deeply vivid, imaginative nature and prophetic dreams is the best way to his heart. For our Cancer man feels most at home here.

“He like the crab inhabits the patch of sand midway between the mysterious ocean and the dry land of ordinary life. Ideas and images come to him, and he gives birth to them. Then the tide recedes, and for a time he is stranded. The process begins again.” By Liz Greene, Astrology for Lovers

Cancer is also the homebody of the zodiac, and when he feels threatened he retreats into his shell and into an inner ocean of emotion. He is also protective and nurturing of others, and senses when they are feeling vulnerable to life. If you are very important to him he will want to make you feel safe at all times, so that you also feel at home, but he is also a worrier and if you don’t return his call he can begin to imagine the worst the has happened to you, and will want to make sure that you are tucked away safe. He will do whatever it takes to defend anyone or anything that’s of value, and he is the ultimate protector and defender of the zodiac. Sometimes he clings to you as if it is the last time he will see you, and is constantly on the lookout for any threats. Cancer’s live to connect, share feelings and care for those close to them.

Respecting his security needs goes a long way, he might also like it if you cooked his favourite comfort foods, run a nice bath, cuddled in bed, or had a moonlit walk by the ocean. It is only by offering plenty of love and reassurance that he will feel at home with you and then you will see the real soulful face of Cancer. Also remember that he is very driven by his emotions, and he is deeply connected to his surroundings, and when feeling hurt he will retreat into his shell. Nothing can crack the shell until he feels safe to come out again.

Don’t be harsh with him or ignore his feelings otherwise you will see his hard, defensive nature come to the fore. This doesn’t mean you have to baby him or feel like you are walking on egg-shells, but respect his needs for privacy, withdrawal and retreat and understand the deep and powerful emotions that reside under the surface. Cancer needs time away from the world, and this allows him to replenish himself emotionally, and swim about in his imagination, feelings and moods. Retreating into his shell is a way to keep him safe from over-exposure, hurt and criticism.

The Moon remembers everything at a deep and instinctive level, and remembers if our needs were met or not. Psychologists and astrologists claim that our memories dictate all our life-long future habits. The Moon is the dictator of the tides and of human emotions, and so everything out there potentially affects him in extreme ways on an inner level, and he is subjected constantly to the ebbs and flows of the emotions that run through his veins. A negative emotion has his stomach tied up in an anxious knot, and challenging aspects to his Cancer planet/s can make his insecurity worse. The establishment of a nurturing and nourishing relationship will gain his confidence and you will find his soft and emotional centre. You might even have to climb into his shell with him, and both of you can truly take care of each other.

Moon in Pisces: Hungry Eyes

I noticed the Moon was in Pisces this morning, and I have been thinking a lot about my own Moon in Pisces square Neptune (ruler) in the 4th house (Moon’s house). I have a super powerful Moon in Pisces profile. Therefore any interpretation of Moon in Pisces might as well be written in capital letters...

WHEN YOUR THREATENED, YOU ARE LIKELY TO TRY AND LEAVE YOUR BODY. PISCES ENERGY TENDS TO DISASSOCIATE WHEN PUT UNDER PRESSURE. IN FACT, ANYTIME YOU ARE IN A SITUATION WHERE YOU FEEL THREATENED, EITHER BY STRONG BOUNDARIES OR BY SEVERE BOUNDARY VIOLATIONS, YOU'RE LIKELY TO TRY TO ESCAPE. By Kevin Burke

I have been seriously worrying about boundary violations at home because I have my mother and partner moving in. They will be lodging in a bedroom and will have the garage as their main living space. It is not a one-way street and the situation will help us out financially, but there are the issues of BOUNDARIES. I have a super-sensitive Moon and feel safe with a certain level of privacy. Life-themes about sacrifice, letting go, and “giving up” part of my home and personal space (4th) are critical right now. With being so emotionally sensitive, I can empathise with their situation, and it will also help with my own financial worries, but it’s my own super-sensitive-nature that may find difficulty adjusting.

A Pisces Moon seeks seclusion, and if I over-expose myself to the problems of others it can leave me feeling emotionally drained. Astrologers warn a Pisces Moon of being aware of the degree of openness which they leave themselves vulnerable to. Certain Moon’s (water signs and houses and/or Moon aspecting Neptune and/or Pluto) have psychic feelings, and can feel emotions deeply, and on top of this they are keenly aware of the emotions of other people around them. Sensitive Moon’s try to avoid conflict, and dread any kind of emotional confrontation, and are easily hurt or upset.

I often imagine big pools of water filling up in a Pisces Moon's eyes when they are feeling blue. If I start crying I can’t seem to turn the water off for hours and could literally - cry a river, but only my close family have observed this strange phenomenon. I find it very difficult to stop the tears flowing, but one of the notable things about sensitive people is that they are not able to shake off emotions as quickly as others. Once they are saddened or upset by something, they cannot just switch gears and forget it. Most of us sensitive people wish we were “thicker skinned” and even generally tougher personalities may feel their “sensitivity” is a weakness. Some charts are more prone to dissociating from their sensitive natures, and some people have learned to hide it from others. Moon in Pisces or Moon-Neptune are easily hurt by criticism, and take everything to heart. Being sensitive also has its positive side, and we are keenly aware of beauty, art and music, and usually possess a high imagination, and vivid dream life.

Another thing that is associated with Pisces is hunger, and it is often described as some kind of empty and gnawing feeling inside a soul that needs to be fed constantly, and this could be a deep hunger for relationships, drugs, god, music, beauty, tranquillity, or some other source of food. One sign for the emotionally hungry is never feeling full, never feeling satisfied, fulfilled or contented with what one has on the earthly plane. It is a different kind of hunger from the greediness of the Jupiterian, and it’s more about living without boundaries, and being merged in ways that others may not understand. Disappointments, often leave us enraged, despairing and needing another round of drinks, but never feeling that it is enough to quench the thirst.

We can easily encounter “emotionally hungry” people in our family, friends or lovers. However, this becomes more about an emotional void in one’s own life, and a feeling of emptiness, separateness from an otherworldly source. For the Moon's timely passing through Pisces we can indulge in some music and lyrics that fit this Moon perfectly… Hungry Eyes. I neatly timed this post to go out when the Moon is in Pisces at the 12th degree (Piscean degree).

Scorpio's Jealousy

One of Scorpio’s most characterised traits is jealousy, that green eyed monster which has the potential to end even a long-standing relationship. Jealousy can destroy a partnership, where trust would strengthen it. Without fail they drive away the person whose love they fear losing. Sometimes with the men of this sign the demon of possession takes over and the intensity of their natures drives them on to a verge of murderous frenzy. Those that have not managed to learn the self-control of the sign can lose everything in one episode of pathological jealousy.

Perhaps their chief foibles in relationships are jealousy, pride, and a dominating disposition, broodiness or sarcasm. A Plutonian kind of relationship will try to control others by their will and self-determination, but don' think too badky of Scorpio -  they are a very loyal sign, but expect the same loyalty in return. Possessiveness may be one of their greatest demons, and in this momentary eruption of emotions the individual feels completely justified in their actions.. Someone once compared a relationship with a Scorpio to being taken hostage, but they do make for very compelling lovers, just be prepared to feel like you’re standing naked under their gaze. Some astrologers have referred to Scorpio’s jealousy as a bad “fate “ that is met in all relationships and this is a deep rooted part of the personality that cannot be changed.

In all their relationships they become quickly enraged if the partner pays a little too much attention to anyone they would deem as a threat. The thought of losing someone they care for is dreadful for Scorpio, but there is sometimes a fine line between Scorpio’s passionate, loyal and committed nature and one that borders on obsession. They can be so obsessed to have their mate by his/her side and view commitment as for a lifetime, finding it difficult to let go. At its worst, Scorpio drives away those that they most love with their demanding passions and territorial nature.

Many Scorpio people have been lost and destroyed through anger, jealousy and passion. The emotional make-up of Scorpio is fixed, extremely stubborn and once set on course there is no turning back. They are very intense and emotionally deep, relying on their knack for inner psychology to work others out. Scorpio is extremely protective of partner’s, but when their confidence slides, insecurity takes over – Jealousy is their first reaction. A big no-no for Scorpio and one act which is totally unforgivable in their book - is infidelity. Scorpio can learn to trust intimate lovers, but it may take years. It is not always wise to talk about ex-lovers, or hide anything form them, and they will grill the information out of you, leaving you feeling terribly uncomfortable under their intense heat. Scorpio loves to dig deep, and will stop at nothing until they find the truth. Occasionally they imagine betrayals where they don’t exist, and jealousy rears its head from a dark, brooding and suspicious place. The intensity of the sign makes their jealousies and hatreds even more dangerous, and they are the only sign that have the capacity for very deep and lasting loves and hates.

“It isn’t sufficient to just say Scorpio is a jealous sign. There are many kinds of jealousy. Possessive, yes, but all water signs are possessive. But Scorpio’s pathological jealousy isn’t simply a fear of losing a loved one. We all fear that. Underneath you will find some bitter little vision of life, some black belief about the fundamental rottenness of men/women or whatever. By Liz Greene, Astrology for Lovers

Scorpio can also carry grudges to their grave:

“But I saw that kiss, and I burn with green bile jealousy. I plot ways to kill him. I sabotage his car, see him screaming as he hurtles down the free-way with his brakes cut, pumping the useless pedal and wrestling with the wheel as he crashes through the safety barrier and takes flight. I firebomb his house, stage a murder-suicide, shot him dead before Cynthia’s horrified eyes, and then take my own life. “By Kurt Von Trojan

Love is capable of stirring all that is best and all that is worst in Scorpio. If a Scorpio tries to repress this side of their nature they may suffer emotional pangs in silence. Or they will try and force love from their partner by being hateful, mean, nasty, or violent to satisfy their deep desires.

Mercury in 8th House

Those with Mercury in the 8th house are acutely aware of the unconscious exchanges between people and they need to know what goes on behind closed doors. There is a deep, serious mentality; and perhaps even an unnerving curiosity about life and death issues. An awareness of another reality and hidden agendas is something they are usually interested in exploring. Mercury here loves to investigate the unknown, and are extremely curious about what goes on under the surface of life, and enjoy solving the greater mysteries of our universe.

Mercury in the 8th house revels in discovering what is concealed and the more forbidden a subject, the more likely they will want to penetrate the matter in question. It may be macabre, perverse, or controversial, but the mind is less unflinching and undaunted by such studies and they are very resolute in their interests. In some cases those with this placement have been involved in communication with the deceased, and subjects beyond the grave don’t frighten them.

Mercury in this position has the ability to pick up the unspoken words of others and tends to miss nothing, reading the subtle cues in the environment. If you verbally attack them they have counter psychological missiles at hand to destroy and know how to be sarcastic or verbally wound. If they walked into a room of people gossiping and suddenly everyone shut up, they know exactly who they were talking about. Mercury in the 8th house has feelers for hidden information and secrets cannot be kept from them.

They may enjoy sharing their ideas and perceptions with a partner and possess a fundamental curiosity about things when experiencing close emotional connections with others. They may form bonds with others by sharing personal secrets or talking about shared pain or trauma. However, they can go for long periods in silence, but if they have something to say they will get in touch, and can often get thought provoking ideas across to others, and in very few words.

These people may seek to understand the deepest motivations of others through psychology, and this may be a person who helps to talk people through disturbance and crisis, exploring the taboos of life in depth. In general they may be drawn into extreme styles of speech, and always have something profound to say, teach or write. Mercury in the 8th house is good at analysing the exchanges between people, and this is the mind of the detective, occultist or investigator and there is a deep desire to know as much as possible. They make perceptive, insightful and intuitive writers, and there may also be an interest in sexuality, evolution, shared resources, financial deals, taxes, finance occult, psychic activity, or death. In a few cases it may indicate the death of a sibling, or conflicts involving inheritance, or the  unthinkable aspects of life.

Mercury is focused on the darker side of life, and they have to be aware of a tendency to control others intellectually and they may be prone to mental paranoia and a suspicious nature. Mercury in the 8th house can be very secretive, and the mind is very determined and unflinching and they need to communicate on a deep and meaningful level. This position of Mercury might be associated with a black sense of humour and highly sophisticated one. Astrologer Sue Tompkins links this placement to ‘heavy breathers ‘on the telephone and phone sex!
