Aries

The Sun is exalted in the sign of Aries, and takes its name from the Greek God of War. People with an Aries Sun sign are independent and headstrong, and like the other fire signs, are driven to realize their own individuality. As a cardinal sign, they need to look to the future and move forward in life. Being the first sign of spring, the symbol of new beginnings, Aries is associated with the awakening energy which follows the hibernation of winter.

Aries is a "me first" sign and these people project their personalities out into the environment and are very self-orientated and won't take orders from anybody. The key phrase is "I am, " representing new growth and burgeoning life force. Aries is youthful and impulsive, and sometimes lacking in tact and diplomacy.

Those born under this sign prefer to be straightforward, honest and upfront with others and there is no deviousness or manipulative behaviour. However, they can be a touch reckless, hot tempered and feel they must battle their way through life.

Positively they act in bravery and stand up for their rights, and believe in being true to oneself and one's own vision and convictions, even if that means standing alone. The Ram is motivated towards idealistic causes and they will pit themselves against any form of social injustice, and often succeed through sheer energy and force of will.

Aries people are simple and direct, blunt and honest, and they also have strength, intelligence and courage. These folks are driven to prove themselves through energetic activity, and to be enterprising and ambitious. Aries is motivated to be 'number one', and each day offers a brand new challenge. By nature they are not afraid to try something which has not been done before.

Aries likes to to be in charge and are reluctant to follow and they must be first in everything they do, and will rush in where angels fear to tread. They work very well independently, always ready to do something new and dislike routine and sameness.

If success isn't immediate they tend to seek out more exciting activities and so have earned the reputation of not finishing what they have started. Aries loves discovery, invention, and initiating things and believe in the power of positive thinking and action.

Aries is learning is to assert their identity effectively and confidently, and they will often do battle with anything or anyone standing in the way of this goal, even if it means challenging authority figures. They will engage themselves in conflict in order to test their strength and potency.

Furthermore, Aries will choose to reject the wealth of experience and advice from elders, but this is because planets in Aries need to break new ground, try something new, untested and daring and are resistant to following the same tried and tested path of those who have gone before them.

Although Aries is keen to have a bash at something that has never been tried before, they are far better at starting things than finishing them. The leadership qualities are considerable, and they need to be the instigator of action.

Some Aries people find it hard to express the dynamic energy of this sign, and it may reflect an early childhood where confidence has been undermined, leading to fearful self expression and doubts about their own potency and will, but their forceful nature cannot tolerate endless suppression and sooner or later their repressed energy will surface through an explosive temper, or depression which masks inner rage.

Aries represents a search for self through all activity that reaffirms their existence as an individual, set apart from others. The desire to be first and best is natural, and they will often be found fighting for their own space and won’t take kindly to anyone who is too clingy and possessive.

Aries likes to conquer and they are powerfully romantic, although selfish and demanding. Fiercely protective towards their nearest and dearest they exhibit strong feelings towards lovers.

Further Interpretations:

Courage! That’s what Aries is all about. Traditionally this sign is represented as the Ram—a fierce, frightening creature. That’s a pretty good description of how this energy looks from the outside. Inside, it’s different. Not the Ram, but the newborn robin, two days old, just hatched from its shell, living in a world full of creatures who think of it as breakfast. Does it cower? No—the little bird flaps its stubby wings and squawks its head off, demanding its right to exist. That’s Aries: the raw primal urge to survive. Existential courage.
Courage is a funny virtue—it has to be scared into a person. In the evolutionary scheme of life, Aries energy has a disconcerting property: it draws stress to itself. You can choose a life of risk and adventure. Or you can choose a life of one damn thing after another. Refuse the first, you’ll get the second.
With the Sun in Aries, there’s a hidden spiritual agenda behind the dramatic tone of your life: you’re getting braver. Every month, every year, you attract a set of challenges. As you’ve probably noticed, you’re a magnet for stress. Sounds terrible, right? Don’t worry: you have a choice. There are two kinds of stress: the kind we hate and the kind we like. The kind we like we generally call by other names, like exhilaration and adventure … which, for you, is the path of destiny. Accept it. Live the gambler’s life. Risk the lows for the sake of the highs. Do it, or all that fire inside you will turn sour, emerging as tension, argumentativeness, and pointless trouble.

"Aries’ great independence is a symptom of vitality and physical energy and becomes intellectualized later in life, if at all. The highest type of Arian becomes capable of idealizing and universalizing his love of independence, which has its source in egocentricity. The first ambition of the Arian is to be first. He is an inveterate contestant, a professional competitor. His object is not so much the material stake as the glory of winning. He will never boast about coming in second; the also-rans he beats impress him less than the one fellow who beats him and thus steals his rightful place at the head of the procession. Literally as well as figuratively this first-ness shows. Your Arian walks one step ahead of his companions, goes through doors first, has the first word (and often the last) in any argument. He loves arguments, not as a means of arriving at truth so much as a means of demonstrating that he can come out in front. He often wins by sheer noise and vitality— that is, he makes the other fellow cry uncle. Aries is frequently original in his efforts to be first, and, when not original, is sure to be novel.

Any Arian who doesn’t understand the difference between originality and novelty should study the two words till he does. When an Arian is original he is a pioneer, an inventor, a great thinker. When he is only novel, he is putting first his ego ideal to be first and neglecting to make his ideas sound and his methods practical. He thus loses the benefit of his energy, his genius and his ambition. All the bugaboos of the ego beset the Arian, and he must beware of self-centeredness. This can make him arrogant, conceited, self-pitying, self-assertive, and in the face of opposition or restraint can lead to delusions of persecution in mild or acute form. To forget self, to become absorbed in mental matters, to put ideas first, and to make sure that originality (or novelties) rest on a sound basis of fact, to see the other fellow’s point of view, and to regard the other fellow’s needs, wishes, desires just as seriously as his own are the means by which Aries may emphasize his great good points, and insure that his desire to be first shall actually cause him to be first." The usual interpretation of Aries is that it is ruled by Mars, the warrior, and inclines a person to be strong and independent. Aries is the pioneer and prefers to blaze its own trail rather than follow the crowd. My personal observation of Aries is that it does indeed incline a person to prefer functioning independently and accordingly to their own instincts, and they often are very poor in cooperating with others. They do not solicit the opinion of others, and instead make decisions according to what seems best to them. I have not found Aries to be combative or physically forceful, although their reluctance to cooperate with others can cause problems in relationships.
No astrologer has a monopoly on truth, and I realize that my emphasis on Aries being independent but not necessarily forceful is not a view shared by a great number of astrologers. These views of Aries are just the opinion of one astrologer, and are based on consultations with clients for many years. Progress in determining consistently accurate traits is difficult because there are many hundreds of astrological influences in the birth chart (thousands if you use some techniques) and any of these astrological influences may be responsible for the trait you are ascribing to the person, and additionally there are many ways that a person can respond to the astrological influences.
I remember one particular week when I had 3 clients whose Sun sign was Aries and overall all 3 of the people were rather gentle, even passive, but all 3 of them had problems in personal relationships because of their “lone wolf” approach to life; they simply did not share openly, cooperate, or compromise, and insisted on following a career path that suited their personal taste, and all 3 were uncomfortable in an employment situation where they could not be their own boss. This kind of anecdotal evidence is generally all that we have to work from, so from a scientific perspective all astrological theory is highly speculative and there is little wonder that there are a large number of opinions. (Cosmic Patterns)

"With the Sun in Aries your independent way of thinking and doing things may be quite powerful. Your ego self is driven by a need for autonomy. You need plenty of room to move, and the idea of being penned in makes you feel unsettled. You simply do not like waiting, and prefer spontaneity to planned situations. You may also be more comfortable taking the lead, which can be daunting for some of the men in your life. Since your Sun indicates “who you think you are,” you may realize that if you see yourself as autonomous, then situations in your life are more likely to develop which allow you to express yourself in a more self-determined manner.

Through your Aries Sun, you have the capacity to develop a strong level of autonomy and self-direction. You may be a self-starter and will prefer to address life on your own terms. However, you can have a little difficulty trying to figure out how to go after the things you want without alienating others. If your approach is too brash or abrasive, you’ll meet with resistance and end up feeling that you’re always defending yourself. Despite being a woman, you may be okay in situations with “the guys,” especially if you’re involved in sports or other activities in which there are more men than women present. Since you can be com-petitive, you may set up situations which provide a challenge, but you do not need to feel that you’re always doing battle. You need some positive outlets through which you can develop your willpower, and may enjoy a career path which requires you to forge into new territory from time to time. You’re an excellent leader, and whether you’re working in the world, guiding your family through a crisis or seeking spiritual clarity, you can forge a path which others readily follow.

With your Sun in Aries you’ll enjoy forging a life path which challenges your sense of personal strength and courage. Your ability to blaze your way to the top in any situation is quite noticeable, although you can be a little abrasive if your eye is simply on the prize and you fail to pay attention to others around you. When a situation calls for leadership, you’re the natural choice." By Gloria Star. Matrix Software

Taurus

Taurus has a deep rooted need for material and emotional stability, and both of these things are fundamental to their sense of well being. Those born under this sign instinctively withhold and conserve whatever belongs to them, and they don't take risks affecting their material security, as their possessions and home environment are extremely important to them and they tend to take a common sense, pragmatic and practical approach to life.

Taureans’ have a need to possess, whether objects, money, or people, and security has to manifest itself in a tangible, unchanging form, so that it can be relied and depended upon. These people are security building and make good investors, bankers, and accountants. Taurus is the first of the Earth signs on the zodiac wheel and as a result they are deeply practical and realistic and their temperament is steady and placid.

Taureans prefer a quiet and steady life, and these folks persevere; their greatest strength resides in their tenacity, and steady relentless drive. Taurus is learning to relate to the earthy world, and build a sense of permanent worth into it, and their essential purpose is to maintain the stability of earthly things.

Naturally, they have a highly developed sense of harmony and wholesomeness, but Taurus also represents the need to put down roots and establish a home base. Being a practical no nonsense sign,  patient, docile and accepting, they respect the value of money, and work long and hard to achieve their goals. Taurus is a fixed earth sign and that means that they are not fond of change on the material level of life and don't like to be rushed into anything new.

Taurus can be stubborn and overly practical and conservative, and don’t like anything which demands immediate action thrust into their face, they need a slow and relaxed pace with plenty of time to consider things carefully. Through their need for fixed security, these types are often stubborn and refuse to budge, and are entrenched in a familiar world of habit and routine to the point of being stuck in a rut.

Beneath their gentle exteriors they are known to have violent tempers and if if pushed too far can be provoked into physical anger. The unfamiliar makes them feel insecure, and they are happiest when involved in loving and committed partnerships. Taurus is in touch with their sensual side, and as a physical sign they have strong instinctive driven desires that seek satisfaction in very personal ways.

The sign is ruled by Venus and they a deep affinity for music, design, good food, and all the good things in life. Taurus also has a flair for design and colour and enjoys deep affinity with music, and will often possess a beautiful singing or speaking voice. Sometimes their appetite and appreciation for food can lead to weight problems. However, it is the ’sensual’ and not the ’sexual’ manner that pleases his senses, and they usually have a keen eye for what is valuable.

Touching, tasting, hearing, smelling and seeing helps Taurus appreciate life from it’s most basic physical level, they are born romantics and need to indulge in the tactile expression of love. Taurus has endless patience and an easy peace loving disposition, they are also extremely loyal and steadfast with a grounded nature. Taurus has the ability to create an atmosphere of peace and tranquility, and this is highly conductive for the formation of a stable and loving relationship.

One critical theme for Taurus is to cultivate self-value, and to establish a personal sense of self worth. It has to be something that does not come from external sources such as wealth or a prestigious title. Once such self worth is established it can't be taken away. The deepest motivation for Taurus is to be useful and productive, and to build something solid, permanent, and tangible in the world.

Further Interpretations:

You are known for being patient, slow moving and careful—you love to prolong and savor enjoyable times. You appreciate and need comfort, ease and warm surroundings. Be careful of a tendency to become placid and self-satisfied and to overeat (especially sweets). You require strenuous situations in order to grow and mature properly, even though you try to avoid them.
Affectionate, even-tempered and slow to anger—when you do become emotionally upset, you are also slow to forgive and time must pass before your calm returns. You demand real results from any situation—abstractions are very difficult for you to comprehend. Very artistic, your hands love to mold and shape things. You portray an earthy, physical sexiness that others find quite seductive. By Astrolabe

"You are a steadfast and patient soul, capable of tremendous devotion, dedication, endurance, and constancy. The ability to follow through and stick with things is one of your greatest assets. Once your course is set, you pursue it tenaciously until it is completed, stubbornly resisting any attempts to sway you from your purpose.

You have a very practical nature and want to see concrete, tangible results for your efforts, and you are not one for spinning wild dreams that are unlikely to come into fruition. Most of your “wild dreams” have to do with material achievements, well-being, and security, for you have a great love of the physical world and you want to experience and enjoy it to the full.

Though you will work long and persistently, you also have a strong sensual and comfort-loving side, and you want to enjoy what you have worked for. In fact, you can be enormously lazy at times and have a tendency to overindulge in good food and other earthly pleasures. You also love the beauty of the natural world and probably prefer a serene country setting rather than an urban life style.

At heart your needs are simple and you are easy to please. You have a strong desire for security, stability, and peace, and will rarely make changes unless you are forced to do so. You are not very demanding emotionally, though you do crave lots of physical closeness and affection. Because of your faithfulness, emotional steadiness, and gentle strength, others often depend upon you for support.

Though you hate upheaval and sudden changes, you usually maintain your poise and equanimity. You also have an innate sense of harmonizing with nature, allowing things to grow and unfold in their own time, and the patience to nurture something into being—be it a garden, a child, or some creative project. You make an excellent mother or father, especially if you follow your instincts more often than “the experts.”

You have three major faults: one is your bullheaded obstinacy. The second is your unwillingness to deviate from your safe, predictable routine. And the third is your tendency to always insist upon realism and undervalue the imaginative, speculative, and fanciful—in other words, you lack the ability to play with ideas and possibilities, to open your mind to the new. From “Merlin,” by Gina Ronco and Agnes Nightingale.

Ease, calm, naturalness—those are the spiritual goals of the Bull. Silence too. But not just the kind that comes from keeping your mouth closed. The Bull’s silence is deeper: it’s a quiet heart. Feel the wind in your hair. Feel the efficiency of your body, the rightness of its rhythms, the easy intelligence of your cells and muscles. That’s Taurus.
The part of you that’s learning the lessons of the Bull is getting more grounded, more present, more receptive to immediate reality. As a result, it has a physical orientation and a practical feeling. It’s not so interested in abstract flights of speculation. It avoids the metaphysical Disneylands that seem to fascinate so many people. It specializes in the wordless mysticism of ordinary life.
Feed your Taurean side with hands-on work: gardening, crafting wood or cloth, communing with animals. Soothe it with music. Restore and renew it with time spent close to nature—in the forest, in the mountain valley, by the ocean. Dress it in blue jeans and flannel. And never, ever, ask it to go to a cocktail party!
With your Sun in Taurus, you renew your basic vitality in simple ways. Take a walk in the woods. Paddle a canoe. Build something of oak or maple. Your deepest nature is quiet, stable, solid. You benefit from having a strong tone of continuity in your life—especially in relationships.
Keep in touch with old friends. Stay close to people who aren’t too quick to get off on “trips,” be they guru-scenes, make-a-million schemes, or a new kind of bean sprout that will change your life.
At the deepest level, you are learning about calm and naturalness. So keep things simple. Your practical skills are enormous: you understand the world of raw materials, of money, of daily life. Be careful those skills don’t run away with you!
A pitfall for you lies in getting so busy keeping all your responsibilities magnificently fulfilled that you starve yourself for quiet time. Then the Sun grows dimmer in you, and every other aspect of your character has less light to reflect. By “The Sky Within,” by Steven Forrest

"The singleness of purpose of the Taurean, his loyalty, his stick-to-it-iveness, spring from one source: his need for security. Self-preservation …is the hub of the Taurean wheel of life; and the Taurean curls and dies within himself when security—emotional or material—is denied him.
Not likely to be grasping, sure to be the embodiment of the idealist form of love, Taurus may himself, or herself, be quite unaware of inner motives, for self-analysis is rarely important to this sign.

Instincts are powerful and generally right—always right in so far as they serve the
perhaps unarticulated motives of the Taurean, who, while not selfish in the ordinary material sense, sees to it that nothing interferes with the gratifying of his instinctual urge, self-preservation and its more abstracted form, self-fulfillment.

The Taurean will not interfere with you if you don’t interfere with him in these essentials, but will fight like a bear at bay for his rights to these things. He is the easiest person to live with, if you are willing to live with him and not against him.

Anyone who is going to get along with a Taurean must understand that to him or her cooperation doesn’t mean doing things together; it means doing things peacefully, in a friendly manner, even if the things are done separately. This kind of cooperation annoys people who are less self-sufficient until they learn that the heart of the Taurean comes home to roost only if you don’t try to coerce it, and will break itself against bars of any kind, even if the bars are put up by love itself.

The Taurean is so sure of his need for security that he resents any implication that he needs watching or holding; his instinct is to hold himself to what he needs and wants—and he can’t by any force in the world be held to anything else. On the other hand, once he has polarized his instinct on an essential, he will cling to it with hands, teeth and toenails, and no one can tell him that it is unworthy, or wrong, or useless, or low.

Once it is his, in that it satisfies his deepest needs, it is his forever, whether it be home, a man, a woman, ambition, love, money or anything. When the Taurean has determined in his deep and sometimes dark subconscious that his emotional or material security lies there, he goes there and stays there forever." By Matrix Software

Taurus patiently builds things using an inner instinct. Taurus is attuned to the plant kingdom and a love of nature is usually strong in people who have a lot of Taurus in their charts. Taureans are practical and down-to-earth.

I have not found that love of food and comfort or materialism or acquisitiveness, which are often ascribed to Taurus, are accurate. From my viewpoint Taurus is the builder, plain and simple. Taurus approaches life instinctively, following its own inner sense, and persistently and patiently builds something.

Taurus does things in an organic way and does not respond to reason, preferring to follow an unfolding process that works from within. Taurus is attuned to the plant kingdom because Taurus develops organically and slowly, just as plants do.

People with strong Taurus in their chart like to build things up step-bystep, unfolding a plan that is within them and as the vision unfolds and materializes, Taurus takes great joy in the process. Others may feel bored, as if the Taurean is delighting in watching the grass grow, but patience and tenacity are implicit in the Taurean unfolding process. By Kepler Software

"With your Sun in Taurus your steadfast, easygoing energy helps to keep you focused on your priorities. You’re interested in a life which provides ample opportunities to grow, and your ego self is driven by a need to experience consistency. The beautiful things in life are most valuable to you, and your capacity for love is immense.

Learning the difference between stability and stubbornness can be one of your biggest lessons. Since your Sun shows “who you think you are,” you can grow to realize that loving thoughts produce amazing results. Through your Taurus Sun you experience a sense of continuity and stability, and can express your masculine side through establishing as secure place in the world.

Whether you choose a career path or family structure as your focus, you are like an anchor and have the ability to provide strength and consistency. It may be important that you to create a home base, and the energy you put into building your home includes both house and family.

Your special sensibility toward the environment can grow as you mature, and you may find that your awareness of the importance of preserving the environment and making the best use of resources is behind your most powerful drives. As a woman, you will take great care to build upon the foundations in your life, and may prefer to assert yourself in a slow, steady pace.

Your career path needs to provide opportunities for you to establish yourself and grow steadily. Regardless of your marital status, you function best when you have your own money and resources. Although your father may have been the breadwinner and financial mainstay when you were a child, you may prefer a different situation with a husband or partner.

Allowing the man in your life to control your finances will ultimately result in a power struggle, if not externally, then certainly within yourself. You can work cooperatively with a partner toward joint ventures, financially and otherwise, and can feel willing to share and contribute to the financial and other needs of your family. You will feel greater autonomy if you also have a separate fund which you control for yourself.

There’s certainly no problem with your desires, since your Taurus Sun qualities may help you create a long wish list. Maintaining your focus is one of the tricks you learned long ago, and when you really want something, there may be no end to your patience. The problem can revolve around determining your priorities and learning the difference between what you need and what you want.

Sometimes, your stubborn attitudes and refusal to change can interfere with the realization of your needs. In many ways, your success depends upon knowing when to hang on and when to loosen your grasp—at least a little! By Gloria Star, Matrix

Gemini

Gemini is the most Mercurial sign of the zodiac. While all of us are made up of many selves masquerading as one person. Gemini is the epitome of the split personality, bright, communicative, and sociable one minute, distracted and offhand the next. That is not to say that all Gemini’s are Jekyll and Hyde’s, but this sign embodies the duality of human nature better than most. Gemini must learn to bridge the opposites within: light and dark, intuition and reason, mind and emotions, spiritual and material.

Gemini’s are learning to 'develop' their powers of intellectual discrimination, so that they can learn more about the world which surrounds them. The purpose of Gemini is to gather information and swap ideas, to be where the action is, they are the communicator’s of the zodiac, and the first sign on the wheel to represent social dialogue, and this sign keeps the world and society in touch with each other, and with what is happening. Gemini is a free spirit, and needs an ever changing environment to keep them mentality alive.

Gemini is the first of the multiple signs on the zodiac wheel and this makes them the most adaptable and versatile, they enjoy the contrasts and contradictions in life that provide us with different ways to look at anything. Gemini is seen by others as the eternal child, they have lots of movement, curiosity, versatility with an endless questioning mind, there is too much to know and too much to talk about. Mental and communicative faculties are well developed, and they love to engage in dialogue, to debate and argue. Many Gemini’s are known to have the gift of the gab and they are sometimes fast talkers, and prone to verbal trickery.

Gemini is an intellectual sign, experimenting with ideas, analysing data, systematizing information and drawing conclusions. There is an imperative to reason through every thought and experience, which then must be communicated to those in their immediate environment. Gemini is perpetually shifting from one perspective to another, at each stage rationalizing that position before switching to the next.

Gemini is the sign of the writer, teacher, traveller and graphic artist, as long as they have plenty of scope in daily life to take in the information and pass it on. Gemini has an excellent memory, with a delightful wit, but on the flip side of this they can tie themselves up in mental knots, and can talk and rationalize themselves into anything they want to believe. Gemini’s sometimes have trouble sustaining intimate relationships. Emotions are processed through the intellect and remain unexpressed until there is a logical framework through which to understand them. Often the individual is flirtatious, and they demand personal freedom, resenting anyone who tries to pin them down.

Cancer

Cancer just like the symbol the crab, has a tough exterior that protects a soft underbelly, and they are extremely vulnerable to life. Cancer is the most defensive and protective sign of the zodiac, they live in a watery world of emotions, instinct, gut feelings, and intuition. This level of relating to the environment makes them extremely sensitive to the moods and emotional undercurrents of the world around. Cancer is learning to open the flow of feelings to others, so that they can nurture loved one’s. The Moon describes our roots, origins and early childhood and the function of Cancer in the natal chart is to give us a sense of belonging. Cancer represents our inherited tribal instincts, our race memories and heritage, this is a maternal sign which needs to take care of others. Often the individual has a pronounced tenderness which makes them a very good carer or parent.

Having someone or something to selflessly care for is the key to feeling secure. Cancer is the first sign to first put us in touch with our soul, and there is something inside of them needing to protect all that is vulnerable and in need of shelter. This is the first sign to  feel both love and sadness, and their deep sensitivity absorbs what is going on inside others. Cancer needs security of the emotional kind, through close nurturing bonds, and they can feel emotionally adrift if security is threatened, and can become intensely self protective and withdraw completely. Home is Cancer’s refuge, and the sign is driven by emotional motives. The life quest for Cancerian’s could be in finding a home or a place to belong. Cancer is the first water sign on the zodiac wheel, and possibly the most dependent in emotional relationships, they hold on tight to loved ones and can be considered possessive and clingy.

Cancer needs a home base, security and familiar surroundings to help them feel emotionally secure. Possessing a very protective shell, they rarely leave themselves exposed. Cancer will do anything to avoid being hurt, and this can lead to manipulative behavior, and grasping hold of people in fear of losing them. Loneliness is one of their worst nightmares. The home environment allows Cancer to retreat happily into a private world and they choose to dwell on memories of the past. However they can suffer from a brooding and negative kind of imagination that allows fears to loom large.

The sign of Cancer in our chart symbolizes a place and need for security, and somewhere to withdraw which enables us to feel in touch with our emotions, and to receive emotional support. Cancer needs time to nurture dreams, and to reflect on their deeper nature and they need a certain amount of self protection from the world. The home is often like a shell where both emotional and familiar bonds are formed.

Leo

Leo symbolizes pride, dignity, and courage (together with a rich sense of drama) which describes this most colorful of zodiac signs. Leo’s association with the Lion – a universal symbol of power and authority, says a lot about this particular sign, for the king of beasts possesses an innate dignity and nobility. The Lion often carries themselves like royalty. The truth is that the link with kingship lies in the zodiac conflict between Leo’s most noble intentions and the raw power of it’s instinctual nature. Leo is learning to recognize through creative effort, the centre within and has the capacity to bring warmth and light to other people. The key to understanding Leo is to recognize their strong need for self expression and need to shine.

Leo is striving to develop self confidence, and not to be inhibited in the way they express energy. Sometimes they overwhelm others with their sense of strength and radiant personality. Leo rules the heart, connecting the sign to the virtues of man such as courage, love, loyalty and generosity. Arrogance is something they can indulge in, often without realizing it. A stumbling block to true social integration is their tendency to feel superior to others. The sign represents the search for self through creative urges. Naturally, they have a strong need for personal recognition, and love to be admired and to feel special, impressing others with their talents and abilities. But don’t be fooled by the proud lion, they can be easily wounded by criticism and their worst nightmare is to feel unloved and under appreciated. The sign is the principle of love which first began to develop in family orientated Cancer. Leo needs to learn about the importance of self love, and of being genuinely good to themselves without guilt or apology. When people don’t notice Leo they are deeply hurt, objectivity is not one of their strongest points. Leos have a problem conceiving why the world doesn’t revolve around them and they will do anything to earn other people’s approval. The Lion's strength lies in their ability to grow creatively in whatever direction their talents and interests lie.

Virgo

Virgo’s have a highly developed sense of correctness and order, and it often has to weigh this against the imperfections and chaos that form a part of everyday life. In their attempt to get everything right, the sign sometimes jeopardizes what is really important to them. Virgo’s have a strong need to use their extraordinary powers of discrimination, together with their immense capacity for digesting information, to help make both the self and the world around them more efficient and effective. Virgo is learning to perfect and refine themselves as a vessel for service, so that they can take part in life.

Virgo represents the principle of analysis, and is associated with the development of the critical faculty. Whenever we accumulate information and sort through it, using our mental powers of evaluation and discrimination, we are exercising our Virgo function. Virgo enables us to select what is relevant to our purpose, and reject that which has no practical value.

Putting life in working order is a must for the neatest sign of the zodiac. The analyzer wants to find ways to solve problems before disaster strikes, it won’t wait for a situation to spin dangerously out of control. It will analyze the little things which can go wrong before the crisis looms. No one is more discriminating than a Virgo, they like to classify, order, and synthesize, bringing together different parts, and selecting how it all works together.

Like Gemini, Virgo is ruled by Mercury, but where Gemini likes to collect information for it’s own sake, for Virgo knowledge is only relevant if it is useful and serves a purpose. The Virgo mind is often working overtime trying to put their thoughts and ideas into some kind of order. One way to know the details of something is to take it apart, Virgo likes to break things down into many interrelated pieces, and then study each piece intently while learning how that particular part is meant to function. Virgo’s deepest motivation is that they need to be needed, they need to feel useful. And being an earth sign they like security, and security is often found through being of practical use in the world.

Virgo is the student and observer of life. Another trait of Virgo’s is that they can be obsessive, this could be about tidiness and order in obvious ways, but they can also be obsessive about emotional orderliness and tidiness. The sign thinks it knows better ways to do just about anything, methods that they are willing to teach others to perfect. Social service is somewhat an act of healing to the analyzer, since they try to do things which help make life better for all. Virgo thinks mainly of what will provide the best practical results, for many people not just for themselves.

In human relationships Virgo is thoughtful, solicitous and kind. Even the manner in which Virgo criticizes is meant to be helpful and constructive, for Virgo wants their loved ones to be the best and as pure as they can. Virgo is devoted, but not sentimental, highly sensual, but not given to dramatic passions. Their charm is subtle and alluring. Virgo is were we discriminate and bring order to that part of our life. Where we are learning to sharpen our critical faculties.

Virgo is the enemy of faulty thinking and delusion, they favour down to earth solutions to life and shun anything impractical and they are only interested in what is workable. It is necessary to sort out what we need , what is useful and serves a purpose to what is outgrown and no longer useful for us. To sort the wheat form the chaff. In Virgo we find the spirit of self improvement and work that involves improving life.

Libra

Libra the symbol of the scales connects this sign with justice, and with a strong sense of fair play, and this can be seen in their ability to remain impartial and consider all sides of the case. However, the Librian is often caught in conflict between the desire to please themselves, and the need to be liked by other people. As a result, Librians spend a lot of time sitting on the fence devising clever strategies on how to take the initiative, while still appearing to compromise.

Librians will hesitate and hedge, but its apparent indecision hides a steely resolve. The need for balance can be seen in all areas of their life, but particularly in personal relationships which play a strong part in their life. Libra is learning how to recognize the opposites within their own nature, and the qualities associated with this sign are partnership, harmony of ideas, co-operation and balance. Libra is an air sign and represents the principle of relating to others, and to practice peaceful relating. The deepest motivation of Libra is to share experiences with others, to socialize, to interact with equality, they can spend a lot of time thinking about love and relationships, and have an ideal of the perfect relationship, the perfect union.

Learning to balance is not an easy task, the need to be tolerant and non judgmental, to accept other people have concepts, realities, and values which are very different from their own belief system. “Fair and “equal” are important words to Libra, and they are always aware of other people’s viewpoints and are reluctant to assert themselves, without first consulting others. Sometimes this constant balancing act, when performed for the sake of partnership, can create the very disharmony that they dislike.

Libra needs peace and harmony and will do almost anything to avoid quarrels and emotional storms. It is hard for Librian’s to feel anger, jealousy, or hatred because these type of emotions don’t fit in with their ideal image of how they should be feeling. Thus they will often repress such feelings, and turn a blind eye, to anything coarse, ugly or unpleasant. It can be shattering for Libra to deal with the darker side of human nature. Libra finds it very difficult to deal with the emotional world, they can carry a lot of heavy emotions around inside of them unexpressed.

Libra’s love is a theoretical one and it lifts the ordinary human relationship into the world of platonic ideals and introduces the impersonal concept of justice, and ideal that reflects the nature of cause and effect on moral and legal levels. Those actions taken by the innocently self seeking Aries are now shown to have social consequences, and what is clear here is that we can’t do what we please, at least not at the expense of others, and we are learning to see both sides of a relationship, and not just our own.

Libra has to ability to charm their way into getting want they want, they don’t need to be pushy. Some may call this manipulative charm, but Libra knows just how to please the other person, so they usually do get what they want in the end. Since Libra is so focused on harmony, often the other side of life confronts them and rubs them up the wrong way. There can be a tendency to become embroiled in the problems of others in their efforts to make others feel at peace. Librian’s have to be careful not to express too much sweetness and light, since it becomes very hard for them to sustain it for long periods.

Libra has a big problem with selfishness, it is constantly adjusting decisions to suit everybody else. For this person there is a lot of polarizing going on inside inside and their biggest fear is of being disliked, it destroys them to know that somebody doesn’t like them. Libra has the ability to bring opposites together, that would otherwise be in conflict. Broken unions go against Librian’s deepest motivations, and they will go out of their way to smooth troubles over.

Scorpio

Scorpio is perhaps the most complex and misunderstood zodiac sign. Single minded, and driven by intensity of purpose. Scorpios approach life with total commitment, or none at all. This deep, secretive, and impenetrable sign has a strong impulse to immerse itself in life and this is no more evident than in close relationships.

Often intensely lonely and with a voracious need to connect deeply with others, Scorpios have an overwhelming desire to feel a strong emotional bond with anything, or anyone, in which they are invested. The Scorpio individual is on the path towards learning how to integrate their own darkness, and no matter how controlled Scorpio appears on the surface, they are characterized by passionate emotional convictions. The underlying principle of Scorpio is transformation, and this doesn’t come easy. It involves the release of the ego and this usually triggers pain and traumatic emotions. Being the second water sign on the zodiac wheel, Scorpio reaches a point of emotional crisis. Profound emotions usually hide their vulnerability, they sting and wound anyone who seems to threaten them. Scorpio operates between passionate engagement with the object of their desire to frozen withdrawal it all depends on how vulnerable Scorpio is feeling at the time. The Scorpion realizes that while intimacy can heal it can hurt as well.

Exposing our psychological selves to others involves trust, and when we don’t use good judgment regarding the partners we choose, such exposure of our private selves can result in criticism, ridicule, abandonment. Scorpio, hates its own emotional vulnerability, and will do what ever it takes to hide its vulnerable self.. Scorpio’s are hard to get to know and they need to look deep within to come to terms with their own mysterious nature. Scorpio is the sign most susceptible to the forces of dark and light, and they dread the thought of losing control, and this drives them to dominate everything around them. Scorpio can become obsessed with both power and sex. When sufficiently provoked Scorpio’s can be possessive and suspicious, it can take them a long time to trust and open up and they can feel intensely lonely and are driven by an almost insatiable need for relationship.

Scorpio knows human beings all carry within them a dark side, and Scorpio is riddled with deep insecurity, the kind that makes the world appear untrustworthy. If you humiliate Scorpio, you better watch out for this sign is an emotionally volatile sign and they will not allow themselves to be teased, scolded or even threatened in demeaning ways. When Scorpio reacts they aim for the jugular, and on the psychological level where they know they can do more damage. Scorpio's passion is even more intensified, because it is often restrained or suppressed. Deliberately holding something back only makes it more powerful, and the Scorpions passion can become a strong and uncontrollable force. Scorpio types need to learn to release their heated emotions more often before they get out-of-control. Scorpio is capable of putting up many psychological barriers, designed to forbid access to their underground world. No secrets are to be kept from Scorpio, and if needed Scorpio will enter into another’s territory to get any secret information they need to stay in control.

Self aware Scorpio types are dedicated to the exploration of the mysteries of the human complexity and they seek out knowledge, regarding the nature and power of their inner depths. The realm of Scorpio is where we undergo the beginnings of metamorphic change which later erupt to alter the landscape of our outer world. The interior parts of Scorpio, is where the subconscious well of secret fears, hatreds, lusts, compulsions and other discomforting feelings live. When we exist in these states of emotion they continue to consume our energy and leave us in toxic states. Ultimately Scorpio’s must understand themselves, and find some peace within nature. Scorpio has extraordinary stamina in the face of pain and traumatic experiences and the sign possesses incredible will power. Scorpio is the catalyst for growth, change and transformation, and no matter how painful the journey, they are willing to travel to the depths of their own being and confront those inner demons and psychological complexes. Scorpio is life and death and before the phoenix rises from the ashes, they often live in a locked state of darkness, until that time they take flight and show us the true power that nature possesses.

Sagittarius

Sagittarius is an optimist with a love of knowledge. The half man, half horse that symbolizes Sagittarius describes their dual nature. Sagittarius has a constant need for mental and physical stimulation, and while the higher mind searches for the meaning of life, the lower half represents their instinctual and passionate side. The Saggitarian is learning to see the underlying consistency within all human aspiration, so that their sense of meaningfulness in life can be taught to others. Sagittarius sees life as an adventure, a journey, and a quest. And they want to make the journey as interesting and varied as possible. Their deepest motivation is to explore and understand life.

Sagittarius is trying to broaden their scope and enlarge consciousness, and life is interesting to Sagittarius, and to be explored and ultimately understood. Wherever Sagittarius or Jupiter (ruling planet) is in our chart describes where life is trying to show us that all can be good, if only we just have trust in ourselves, and realise that fear and narrow mindedness can hold us back. Sagittarius places a great faith in the unseen, protective guidance that benevolently helps them along on life’s journey.

Sagittarius loves freedom, and they are always looking to explore horizons beyond their immediate environment. They have a great gift for spotting opportunities wherever they arise. It is difficult for this fiery sign to live in a world of boundaries and limitations. Domesticity can leave them feeling stifled, and they need to feel that they can escape and take off whenever they wish and roam free. Sagittarius often tries to avoid responsibility, and doesn’t want any limits imposed on their freedom. The Sagittarian is concerned with larger issues and the bigger picture, and they don't won't to be bothered with the finer details. Sometimes too much optimism and faith can encourage them to make promises they are unable to keep, so they tend to gain the reputation of being unreliable.

Sagittarius represents a search for self through activity that reaffirms humanity’s place in both the physical and spiritual worlds. Sagittarius is connected with philosophy, ideas and concepts upon which human society is built. Religion, law and higher education come under the precepts of this sign. Sagittarius has a great need for independence both physically and mentally and they cannot be contained or held back. The sign is positive, outgoing and expansive.

Sagittarius always wants more of what is pleasurable, and this is evident from the lower animal nature of the sign, so they want more food, more wine, more sex! It is very difficult for Sagittarius to put a limit on their desires, and this can often lead to their own undoing. In relationships with others Sagittarius tries to avoid heavy emotional responsibility, and they must have freedom to come and go as they please. Commitment is fine, but being trapped or limited by a relationship is not. An intellectually stimulating and physically energetic companion is the most desirable mate, one that understands that Sagittarius is a free spirit. Faith in more opportunities creates luck in life. Sagittarius is a positive thinker, and has confidence in himself and the ability to open up to life in a big way, and let the good things happen.

Capricorn

Capricorn is the mountain Goat, and the symbol for this sign describes sturdy ambitions and a long slow climb to the top. The individuals attitude to life is shaped by practical necessity, and Capricorns are unlikely to disrupt the status qua, unless they believe that it can be improved. Capricorns are learning to master their environment and themselves, so that they shine as an example of the power of the human will. Capricorn is often called the late bloomer of the zodiac, but will struggle persistently, against tremendous odds to reach the pinnacle they seek. Given the opportunities and the motivation, Capricorn’s can make good manager’s, although they can sometimes find it difficult to delegate, shouldering all the responsibility.

Capricorn’s can find it difficult to have fun and relax, they are concerned with tradition and structure, and take marriage and family commitments very seriously. This is a socially orientated sign, which plays by the rules and projects the right social image. Capricorn wants to socially advance, and their underlying belief of destiny involves contributing something meaningful and lasting to society and to build something of social worth to many. Capricorn wants to build something important in the world that stands as a testimony to their hard work and efforts. Capricorn knows how to manipulate the material plane to their advantage, and these individuals have learned to carry responsibility and hardship early in life, and there may have been an early initiation into the hard facts of life. Early childhood has often taught them to be tough and not complain. Capricorn knows that adversity develops will and resilience and fosters realism.

Nothing is ever done by Capricorn without a purpose, yet they don’t always reveal all their aspirations in life, they wait, assess, and plan. Survival is another keynote to understanding this sign, these people are always aware of the possibility of failure rather than success. Nothing is taken for granted by these people, they do not rely on luck, and work hard to achieve their material aims. Capricorn’s are deeply introverted souls, and life can feel rather burdensome, loaded with responsibility, duties and often under authority figures, taking orders. It can be a frustrating period, but they learn dogged determination and are willing to put int he hard work to get to top.

In Capricorn’s unconscious lies a powerful self determination and ambition, they may be a late bloomer, but they know the value of hard work, and are most likely to succeed. Wherever Capricorn is in our charts describes where we may feel were given tests in life that require our stamina and patience. We have purposeful needs here and we want solid results. Capricorn is emotionally reserved and keeps emotions securely under wraps. These individuals rarely react to life events with an outward show of emotions, instead they tend to maintain an exterior of coolness. Capricorn sets out to be effective as it can in practical terms. The idea of being dependent (moon falls in Capricorn) on others and not in control is deeply frightening. The capacity for self control and self mastery is remarkable, and no matter how many knocks these people receive, they have an extraordinary capacity to overcome adversity.

Aquarius

Aquarian’s are learning to become conscious of the group life, of which they are a part, and they introduce new revolutionary ideas, usually through unorthodox methods. The underlying function of Aquarius is to question the status qua. One of the most important keywords for Aquarius is freedom, not just for themselves but for all humanity. Aquarius symbolizes the part of our consciousness which recognizes, whenever any ones basic rights are denied, and it is virtually impossible for this sign to ignore the injustices that exist. Although Aquarians may seem aloof and emotionally detached, their unpossessive attitude is just what they need in order to grow and develop. Freedom of movement is important; air needs space to move about, to ensure it stays well ventilated. Aquarians likes groups but hate to feel crowded.

Aquarians are self controlled and are often embarrassed by displays of emotion. This is characteristic of all the air signs. To air what is understood by the mind is safe because it allows them to draw rational, logical conclusions. Aquarians have the gift of analysis and logic, and have the ability to discuss things rationally, and often brilliantly. New forms of thought and communication come from Aquarius and it is the most inventive sign of the zodiac. Freedom and equality are part of their ideology; they are free thinking visionaries and are often found at the forefront of any movements for change. However, because Aquarius is a fixed Air sign, they do experience difficulty in letting go of old ideas and opinions. Once they become fixated on an idea they rarely change their mind. Aquarius is given to unusual mental patterns, perhaps erratic brainwave activity, that enables them to instantly latch on ideas at lightening speed and to suddenly have the answers they are looking for.

The Aquarian’s ideals are often ahead of their time, but sometimes the ideals they hold, compared to the reality of human beings usually collide. Being an air sign they are more of an ideas person, and often they have very little understanding, of the lower forms of human nature. Aquarians identify with the group rather than the individual. This is why Aquarians are linked to such causes as social work, education, politics and fighting for human rights. Aquarius is forward thinking and they want to set the world to rights. The highest manifestation of the Aquarian spirit is harnessing the power of the individual to the service of the greater whole. Aquarius is a great lover of the truth. Their sense of fairness and democracy is often directed toward improving people’s lot and giving them more rights and greater freedom, it reaches out to its fellow human beings. Thus the Aquarius' symbol embodies the spirit of humanity, progress and change.

Pisces

Pisces is the last sign of the zodiac and embodies a little bit of all the other signs. Perhaps that is why Pisces can so readily identify with others. One of their greatest gifts is the ability to see the unity of all things. This is not a mind orientated sign, but one of feeling and instinct. Pisceans have an innate understanding of mysticism and they are often drawn to living a deeply spiritual life. Piscean’s know that life is ever changing and that, by letting go and surrendering to the flow, they will find a way to the spiritual source of their being. Pisces is learning how to offer themselves as a gift to the larger life, so that they can perform the work of salvaging what has been lost. Pisces symbolizes the spirit of the collective unconscious, wisdom and universal love. Which transcends the personal needs of the ego. Pisces has the ability to feel genuine empathy and pity for human suffering, and the disadvantaged, this can be one of the most sensitive and mystically inspired sign. Pisces has no boundaries and absorbs both the positive and the negative vibrations like a sponge.

Due to their overpowering emotional responses to both internal and external stimuli, Pisces often has trouble coping with reality. As a mutable water sign Pisces is less able to establish fixed rigid ways of viewing the world. It doesn’t easily define reality in concrete terms. Mutable water is very open and responsive to the hidden emotions of others, especially their unspoken sorrows. Pisces feels weighed down and deeply saddened by the inhumanity that occurs throughout the world. A soul weary depression can result, as Pisces naturally empathizes with victims everywhere. The individual often has a vivid imagination, and they live in the world of dreams. Naturally, their chameleon like nature enables them to blend to a variety of different situations with ease. Piscean’s are not afraid of plunging into the world of feelings, they have a strong urge to explore the emotional realms in full. Pisces being the last sign has the most unguarded ego of all, and they are highly vulnerable to the outer world.

One fish swims upwards ready to heal and unify all beings wounded by life’s harsher, unjust realities. Pisces often works for the underprivileged, the sick and those unable to function in society. The other fish swims into the darker depths, and are in danger of being dragged down in spirit into a fragmented, confused world of chaos. The greatest lesson that Pisces needs to learn is that, in order to live in the material world, they to balance their spiritual aspirations with more worldly responsibilities. Discrimination is not their strongest attribute, and those born under this sign need to learn to be discerning when choosing friends and lovers. Often their compassionate nature is taken advantage of, and Pisces can easily be manipulated by a sob story. The Piscean can easily lose a sense of identity, because they are like a psychic sponge and they absorb everything, obscuring a sense of self. Whilst this is the sign with the least self preoccupation,  they are fascinated by their, dreams, imaginations and unconscious..

Thus Pisces has difficulty escaping from their own inner world. Pisces needs to be careful of slipping away into nothingness, and becoming invisible. When the Piscean is disconnected from the true source of it’s nature, they can become aimless, depressed, and addictive, and they may seek transcendence through drugs, alcohol, or other addictive behavior that takes them away from the harsh realities of life. Sometimes they tend to do things in excess and need to learn how to discriminate and set boundaries. Pisces aspires towards self sacrifice, it can often be found searching around desperately for a cause, to which they can feel devote to. Pisces is the final sign on the zodiac wheel and represents the completion of a cycle.

Horror Movie: Aquarius

Splice

Genetic engineers Clive Nicoli (Adrien Brody) and Elsa Kast (Sarah Polley) achieve fame by successfully splicing together the DNA of different animals to create incredible new hybrid animals. Now they want to use human DNA in a hybrid that could revolutionize science and medicine. But the pharmaceutical company that funds their research, N.E.R.D. (Nucleic Exchange Research & Development), forbids it, instead mandating that their department be reorganized to focus on finding & extracting certain proteins from the creatures they have already created. Not wishing to spend all their time engaged in what they consider mundane research for the next 5-10 years, Clive and Elsa secretly conduct their own experiments, blending human DNA with that of other animals.

Though they disagree about actually bringing the hybrid to term, Elsa pushes the issue and she persuades Clive to go along with it, in continued secrecy. They name their creature Dren (nerd backwards), who exceeds their wildest dreams; she begins to grow and learn at an accelerated rate. As their lab becomes exceedingly crowded, and the risk of Dren being discovered increases, they move Dren to Elsa's late mother's farm.

Their work at the company suffers as their attention is focused on Dren. One of the original hybrid animals that they had created, which was originally female, had changed sex unbeknownst to Clive & Elsa since they were distracted. This led to a disastrous presentation during a company shareholders' meeting, when the two original hybrids, previously one male and one female very much in love with each other, became both male, killed each other in front of shareholders and potential investors. Following this meeting, N.E.R.D., found itself in danger of going out of business unless they could find a profitable discovery. Source -Wikipedia. Watch film trailer of Splice.

The jug that holds the water representing the symbol for Aquarius shows the pouring down of inspired knowledge. The modern ruler of Aquarius represents architecture, astrology, astronomy, mathematics, geometry and letters. Uranian power brings advances in technology and science that benefits society. However, sometimes lines are crossed and moral dilemmas are confronted when we seek such  fast advancement in the name of progress. Overly detached from reality whilst pursuing their vision, Aquarians can be unrealistic if taken to the extreme. In Splice, Dren’s emotional needs and freedom are denied. Elsa displayed a sense of nurturance towards the hybrid, but there are also times where she becomes cold and distant. Aquarians are dedicated and loyal towards their causes, with unwavering determination. We have already figured out how to extend life and create life through external means. Aquarius has tremendous creative potential and they are the future thinkers and visionaries in society. The star card in the tarot deck (Aquarius) shows Pandora’s Box. Prometheus stole fire from the gods and gave it to human beings. This angered Zeus and as a consequence he instructed Hephaestus to create Pandora and her box, and told her not to open the box, knowing that she would. The opening of the box unleashed ills and suffering upon mankind, along with hope. In the film Splice it was strictly forbidden to use human DNA in a hybrid.

Watch Evil Twin Trailer…

Twins appear in the myths of every culture and fictional genre and there is a deep fascination with two people that look identical. In movies about twins the actors either have to play two roles simultaneously or the director will cast real twins. Often many identical twins love to play tricks on others and pretend to be the other twin. In Greek myth, the twins Castor and Pollux live in two different realms. Castor was killed and was separated from his brother, but Zeus generously allowed both of them to switch places so they could experience both the eternal realm and the mortal one, which is often why we associate Gemini with a split personality or the Jekyll and Hyde character. However, neither twin could be in the same place at the same time. It has some similarity to the doppelganger myth and in German it is translated as double-walker or co walker. It is believed that to see one's own doppelganger is to receive a warning that death is close. The mortal realm represents limits and boundaries and the eternal one signifies endless possibilities, this is why his moods alternate between two worlds, often with light footedness and heaviness. The split may also show in being extrovert and then turning extremely introverted. Twins represent the duality in human nature and sense of incompleteness without the other half. The duplicity of Gemini understands that nothing exists without its opposite.

Pluto Transits Sun: A New Day has Come

When transiting Pluto trines the natal Sun it signifies self-growth, personal power and self-renewal. A renewed (Pluto) sense of purpose in life (Sun) is keenly felt and an individual undergoes a regenerative period where there is a need for self-improvement, and a feeling of being more directed and focused. Increased self-confidence and feeling more empowered to achieve at this time. New growth and transformative make-over’s can take place now. Astrologically, the Sun rules individuality, destiny, creativity, vitality and will. The Sun is the progressive, active and dynamic principle in the birth chart that unfolds over time. It represents our feelings of specialness, uniqueness and individual sense of purpose that we are here to fulfil. The Sun represents a sense of becoming who we really are and self-realisation.

The Sun also rules over the 5th house of children, and this may be the channel through which the transit is expressed. The solar drive can also be expressed through the father and according to Jungian astrology the Sun in the horoscope reflects the inheritance, gifts and challenges that have been handed down to us. The Sun also represents all male figures in our lives, but it needs to be given individual, self-expression. There is a powerful need in all of us to live out our potential (Sun). The sign of the Sun usually describes the main theme of our journey and the ruler of the Sun is particularly strong and tells us where we need to find and develop our inner potential. The Sun represents the abilities and skills that must developed in order for us to fulfil our role. If we don’t express the Sun in the natal chart we can be left feeling hollow and empty.

Pluto reflects passion, obsession, sex, transformation and deep, psychological changes. It reflects the need to survive and reproduce. Death of some kind is usually the end result of a Pluto transit and trines signify the process of letting go and finality is much easier to accept. Renewed possibilities and fortified inner strength can be the result of Sun-Pluto easy contacts. The difficult descents into the plutonian realm are usually shown by hard Pluto transits, when darkness, pain, grief and loss can overwhelm an individual. Pluto is associated with great wealth, and this is sometimes of the material kind, but it can also reflect the spiritual wealth that is attained. The experience of Pluto transits can signify the greatest of evolutionary changes and acceleration. Below I have gathered together some celebrity examples of transiting Pluto trine Sun in a horoscope, which will further help us to understand these transits.

Butterfly

With Pluto’s transit through Sagittarius it trined planets in Aries and Leo. Mariah Carey has Sun in Aires and she ended her five year marriage to controlling Tommy Mottola in 1998. During the development of her critically acclaimed 1997 album, Butterfly, the couple were separating. The album was described as a life-altering record that continued the transformation of her previous record, Daydream. Carey refers to Butterfly as her greatest work. Previously, Tommy Mottola managed her career and now the singer took creative (Sun) control (Pluto). Throughout interviews Carey denied that her change in direction was radically new and that she chose it and could now make the music that she was passionate about. With the release of the new album and new video. Mariah emerged with her curly locks shed and black clothes changed in favour of more revealing and sexier clothing. In her first video for the single, Honey, she showed more flesh, hinting at her new-found freedom. The album has been described as a musical transformation. Carey’s renewal was not accepted by everyone and she was also highly criticised throughout this period. However, she had gained control. The elegancy of Butterfly impressed critics and they said the star had grown as an artist and that she had taken a giant creative step forward, saying she delved deeper into the hip-hop world. Carey reportedly told her ex husband that Butterfly was her most heart felt balled and she felt the song transformed her career and vocals. Watch the Butterfly Interview for more insight into this transforming period in her life:

A New Day has Come

Pluto trined Celine Dion’s Sun in Aries in 1999, she decided to perform one concert before taking a break to start a family with her husband, Rene. The only thing that was missing from her life was a child. Her husband had developed throat cancer the prior year and they had been hoping for a baby for a long time. However, tests had shown that Rene’s sperm was low in both density and movement, but they had frozen some prior to his radiation treatments. In early 2000, she began daily injections of a drug that would prepare her body for IVF. 18 eggs were retrieved and began to take progesterone the next day. At the lab the sperm was introduced to the eggs and when she returned to the centre the fertilized eggs were injected and ten days later it was confirmed that Dion was pregnant. Overjoyed by the news she couldn’t wait to make the announcement. Celine’s following album reflected the entire period and was called, “A New Day has Come.”

Madonna has the Sun in Leo and I looked back through her timeline and found that she broke three ribs, and a bone in her hand as well as her collarbone in 2005, during transiting Pluto's trine to the Sun. The need for healing and regenerating for that period. However, following on from this time, she decided to adopt a baby in Malawi. It was 2006 when she finally adopted him temporarily and transformed his life completely. Her tenth album was released in 2005, Confessions on a Dance floor. Critics commented that the album was a return to form.

Pamela Anderson has Sun in Cancer and when Pluto trined her Sun, the star moved to Vancouver and got a job as a fitness instructor. At a football game, the camera focused on her and flashed her picture on the big screen. The crowd went wild and she was picked up by a modelling agency. The following year she went under the knife to receive breast implants, transforming her completely.

I recently discussed Lindy Chamberlain and her fight for justice with the legal system after she was accused of murdering her baby. Pluto trined her Sun in Pisces when all accusations were dropped and her name cleared from charges. This may have given her a sense of renewed purpose and power and control back over her life. Lindy also received large compensation for wrongful imprisonment.

Princess Diana began a physical transformation when Pluto trined her natal Sun. She felt rejected and betrayed by her husband with whom she had been separated from the previous year. Diana began a physical and psychological make over, with a new fitness regime, hiring of a voice coach, a new hair style and she became the new fashion icon. The Princess began a series of passionate affairs carried out in secret (Pluto). It was said that she was obsessive and wanted male attention on her all the time. An affair began with James Hewitt and he said that Diana had given him a lot emotionally and that the affair had increased her confidence.

The Death of Baby Azaria

Azaria Chamberlain was a 9 week old baby girl who disappeared on a camping trip to Ayers Rock with her family. The body of the little girl was never found and her parents believed that she had been taken by a Dingo. However, after further investigation the little girl’s mother, Linda, was arrested and charged with the baby’s murder. The case went to trial and Linda Chamberlain was sentenced to life imprisonment. The father was charged with accessory to murder and was given a suspended sentence. In early 1986, there was chance discovery of the baby’s clothing at Ayers Rock after police went searching for the bones of a missing climber. The case was re-opened and all convictions were overturned and Linda was given immediate release with a sum of 1.3 million paid out to the couple for wrongful imprisonment.

Natally, Lindy Chamberlain has Sun in Pisces at the apex of a yod configuration with Neptune and Pluto. According to Carol Rushman most yod people have their fair share of health problems, but they also have the ability to regenerate themselves. And that something life altering always happens when the yod is activated. Most astrologers say that to balance the energies of a yod an individual must make key adjustments. The yod is often called the “Finger of Fate” configuration. I get the feeling with this particular “Finger of Fate” aspect involving her Sun in Pisces, Neptune and Pluto, that the scape-goat figure was enacted. Someone who feels wrongly persecuted, threatened and abused (Pluto) and also the victimisation, fame and confusion (Neptune). The night Azaria went missing, transiting Jupiter was opposite Lindy’s natal Sun, signifying poor judgement at this time and a tendency to be careless. Transiting Uranus also squared natal Mars in Leo and describes a higher likelihood of accidents, arguments and impulsiveness, astrologers always warn us to be careful under such transits. The event was both sudden and shocking and happened without warning (Mars-Uranus).

Transiting Neptune also squared Lindy’s natal Sun, setting off her Yod configuration. Lindy had been going through quite a fog for some time and it usually describes a loss of perspective, over-sensitivity and feeling lost and confused. Azaria’s mother has a natal Mars-Saturn-Pluto conjunction in Leo (Children) and this can be a tough configuration that may signify accidents and a violent death. Psychologically, it shows pent up rage, frustration, stubbornness, wilfulness. There is also extreme determination, pride and ambition. Compared to her Sun in Pisces inconjunct Neptune, the former is not a weak aspect configuration. It was said that she showed little emotion in court. It was extremely difficult for the public to feel sympathy towards Lindy Chamberlain. In the case of the murdered boy, Adam Walsh. His father had a wide conjunction of Mars and Pluto in Leo. I have seen Mars-Saturn conjunct in Leo in a woman’s chart with a disabled son. Baby Azaria was born with a Mars-Saturn conjunction in Virgo hidden in the 12th house. She also has an 8th house Moon opposite Uranus showing early instability. The Sun (life force) is square to both Mars and Saturn. The Sun square Saturn aspect is exact and there is a tight Sun-Neptune opposition.
One of the birth configurations which I associate with the alchemical calcinatio is the conjunction of Mars, Saturn and Pluto which occurred in 1948. A great many people have this natal configuration. There is something about the feeling of it-particularly because it falls in a fiery sign - which seems to pint towards the archetypal issue of transforming primitive patterns into individual creative expression, and which suggests that at some point in life the individual with this configuration may be required to undergo a very difficult and very formative experience of intense frustration and denial of someone or something passionately desired. By Liz Greene, Dynamics of the Unconscious

When the blood stained clothing was found that led to Lindy's release from prison, transiting Uranus was 7 degrees away from an exact conjunction to natal Jupiter in Sagittarius. Transiting Jupiter was conjunct her Sun (luck, protection and good fortune) and set off the natal yod and she was granted immediate release. A couple of years later, transiting Uranus was conjunct Jupiter in Sagittarius (exact) when all convictions were overturned in court, signifying a lucky (Jupiter) breakthrough (Uranus) in the case. It can be evident in lucky breaks, Jennifer Anniston was about to give up her acting career, and then was suddenly offered a role in friends under the same conjunction. It indicates greater freedom, progress and unexpected opportunities. Transiting Pluto trined her natal Sun, suggesting personal power and regenerative energies, successful periods are more assured under these transits. Even 30 years on after the death of Baby Azaria people are still divided over the case. Some believe the mother killed the baby with a pair of scissors and buried her in the sand. Others believe that a Dingo did kill the little girl after a spate of attacks followed her death.

Astronomy Vs Astrology

This morning, my partner was watching an astronomy programme that he had recorded, and the presenter was talking about Jupiter and its physical qualities. According to Astronomy Jupiter is the largest planet and 1000 earths could fit inside. The Astronomer said that astrologers believe that Jupiter influences human lives and that we are right. Astronomically, Jupiter is very “beneficial” to the earth through its gravitational pull. Even on an Astrological level, good luck, blessings, protection, popularity and large and excessive qualities are associated with Jupiter. Physically, Jupiter is said to protect us from asteroids and meteorites that may have hit the Earth. However, the astronomer in question went on to say that astrology is a load of rubbish anyway.

Astronomers don’t know everything about the universe and astrologers don’t know why astrology works. At one time astrology and astronomy where the same and we shared the same studying quarters. Astronomers would prefer not to mention its association. Kings paid astrologers to help them make decisions and the funding went towards astronomical research. Some of the most important astronomers of that time were also astrologers. Astronomers are now embarrassed by our past connection and they tend to treat our belief in astrology with disrespect.

All the mind-orientated subjects are governed by Uranus: Astrology, higher mathematics, Science and Astronomy. Astronomically, Uranus rotates on its axis and astrologically Uranus is different and doesn’t fit in or follow expected ‘norms’. Uranus was named after the Greek God of the heavens, and both astronomers and Astrologers fall under the same umbrella. Here is an earlier post to read on this topic and it's a collection of various quotes that I find uplifting: Astrology - The Difficult Profession
