World Government

I promised to add some of the predictions from the Nostradamus book, interpreted by Liz Greene and Peter Lorie. This prediction takes a look at Pluto's transit through the sign of Capricorn and the possibility of a new world government.

"Natal China: Like East Germany , this horoscope has a Sun/Neptune conjunction in Libra, which reflects the same kind of Utopian philosophy. Despite this noble concept the chart also has a Mars/Pluto conjunction in Leo, reflecting great ruthlessness. Between the years of 2011 and 2012 Pluto transits to form a square to China’s natal Sun when it transits through Capricorn. This suggests great upheaval in the structure of government. The way the astrological natal works, however, is very subtle, because prior to this upheaval we can see the process begin. Somehow secretly.

Nostradamus indicates that a single world leader will emerge. For such an event to occur, there would have to be growth towards a global government.. According to a number of modern thinkers, the only solution to national conflict and individual state anarchy is through the existence of a global military force that is so great and so terrifying that no single nation would dare to break the rules. Stop war by the extreme threat of death. Nostradamus’ verse tells us that the first attempt at world leadership will be short lived and the first leader (monarch) will not succeed, not live too long.

We occupy an age of constant experiment and perhaps in the early part of the 21st century, as indicated by this quatrain, we will see yet another global story unfold. Another important aspect during this same period is is that which occurs as Pluto enters Capricorn, bringing it into opposition with America’s Venus, Jupiter, and Sun, all lined up in Cancer. In the birth chart, this group of planets is in the seventh house; nationally speaking, the house of allies and open enemies. This transit reflects a complete shift in America’s relationship with other countries. The transit of Pluto to the Sun was he aspect in force during the collapse of the Soviet Union, so we can see the potential scale of this situation in relation to America during the this early period in the 21st Century.

England has the Sun in nine degrees Capricorn, and is not affected by the heavy planets until 2012, when Pluto transiting through Capricorn reaches the British Sun. Looking at various countries that have been affected by Pluto transits across their natal Sun positions reflects the major changes in their essential way of governing. On the other hand, the birth chart for the EEC, also has the Sun at 10 degrees Capricorn, and America’s Sun in 13 Cancer is not far away. So this reflects not so much an abdication by Charles, or the end of the British monarchy, but a more global government involving many western countries, leaving their constitutional monarchs alone bit affecting the structure of central government".

Jupiter-Saturn in Libra - A Royal Marriage -1981

Jupiter conjunct Saturn in Libra

On July 29, 1981, the fairytale wedding of Prince Charles and Lady Diana Spencer took place at St. Paul’s Cathedral in London. Hundreds of thousands of people flooded the streets, trying to catch a glimpse of the new princess, while an estimated 750 million watched on T.V. Twenty year old Lady Diana was taken to the cathedral in a glass coach. She wore a dress of ivory taffeta and antique lace, with a 25-ft train, designed by David and Elizabeth Emmanuel. Lady Diana’s walk down the aisle took three and a half minutes.

After the ceremony, conducted by Archbishop of Canterbury Dr. Robert Runcie, the Prince and Princess of Wales travelled in an open-topped carriage through the streets to Buckingham Palace, where they appeared on the balcony and shared a kiss, to the delight of the crowds below, They then withdrew to a private wedding breakfast attended by 120 guests. Less than a year later, the princess gave birth to a son, William. A second son, Harry, was born two years later. By that time the couple’s marriage was already showing signs of strain. The couple officially separated in 1993. Source “History through the Headlines”.

The large scale wedding took place during an exact Jupiter-Saturn conjunction in Libra. The contact has a 20-year cycle with the conjunction staying in the same element for roughly a century at a time, moving from earth to air and then to water and fire. Sue Tompkins lists the contact with economic peaks and troughs and legislative changes. The cycle has also coincided with the American Presidential death cycle and often marks great social change. The last conjunction took place in Taurus, in the year 2000. The next Jupiter-Saturn conjunction will take place in in Aquarius at 0 degrees in 2020. It will trine the conjunction of 1981, and this past vision of a harmonious society will come to fruition and will also reflect a new vision of a tolerant humanity and progression into a more inclusive and larger human family.

The conjunction in Libra occurred in Saturn’s exaltation, the sign of relationship, harmony and balance. We would have seen the redefinition of partnership and structure of all interpersonal interaction. Saturn in Libra represents the ideal of relationship and concept of marriage. Society would examine how harmony can be established and maintained? The marriage between Lady Diana and Prince Charles represented the institute of marriage at that time. The unstable period for relationships occurred when both Uranus and Pluto were in Libra and the divorce rate was statistically the highest on record.

Many reforms have taken place and have effectively been breaking down and transforming ideals. Suitably, the royal wedding took place in the month of Leo (royal sign) and the whole celebratory period of relationship (Jupiter in Libra) and permanence of marriage was now a time to rejoice. The horse drawn carriage and lengthy lace wedding dress set the scene for romantic idealism and reflected a profound change in human values. Libra is unmatched for creating an atmosphere of cooperation, accord and refinement.

Saturn in Virgo 1949 - Britain Gains First Self-Service Shops

Service Saturn in Virgo
Saturn in Virgo - Efficient Shopping
In March 1949, the British government announced that it would licence 100 companies to try out self-service shops, which had already been trialed successfully in America. The move marked the birth of the modern supermarket. Instead of queuing to be served, customers would be able to select pre-wrapped items themselves, put them in a basket or trolley, and take their purchases to a checkout near the exit. It was hoped that the altered layout would reduce staffing requiring thus lowering costs, and make shopping more efficient for everyone.

During this period Saturn had entered the service orientated sign of Virgo and acts as an important marker for this new time-saving and efficient way of shopping for food. Saturn rules limitations, boundaries, structure, self-sufficiency and challenges us to overcome obstacles. The planet compels us to seek solutions, set goals and establish schedules. Virgo is the vessel of service, routine, efficiency, and utilizing time in the best way possible and rejecting that which has no practical value. On a world scale, Saturn in Virgo represents a time to look at working ethics in society and at practical and efficient ways off getting the job done. The president of the London Cooperative Society said” The ’Serve yourself’ service is the system of the future, whether the private traders like it or not. The housewives like it. And that’s enough“. I was born 30 years later and I can't imagine how we shopped any other way. Now we have Internet shopping and have progressed further.

Venus-Saturn

venus conjunct SaturnVenus square or opposite Saturn signifies that one of the most testing learning curves in life are relationships. The contact between these two planets (love and restriction) can indicate that you hold deep feelings of being unlovable. And self-worth is based on the value that others give to you. There is also a powerful sensitivity to rejection and criticism and it depresses feelings of contentment and happiness. You build defences to protect others getting too close and are highly conscious of responsibility, duty and commitment in partnership and it is extremely difficult for you to fully let go and enjoy a relationship.

Venus-Saturn can often feel responsible for other people’s happiness and at times it can appear that you are more concerned that others feel valued and loved. Difficulty around spontaneous affection can be evident and when trying to express this part of your nature it may appear forced, unnatural and limited. The issue of over-compensation is another effect of Saturn and you may be highly attentive and possessive of a loved one.

The fear of failing at relationship and fear of rejection can make you awkward around the opposite sex, and because of defensiveness you come across as uninterested and stand-offish. When not in a permanent relationship there is a tendency to feel as if loneliness and separateness is a “permanent” and lasting, concrete situation (Saturn). A compulsive need for affection highlights deep insecurity and can often create what you fear most, others pull away when they feel they have to constantly prove their love. Gifts and material comforts can be used in exchange for love. Or the relationship can feel rather “businesslike” with goals, material aims and career as the main objective in love and not much time is left for the real art of seduction.

You feel you have to work harder than most at earning affection and with conditions attached. When in a loving relationship there is this awkward defence mechanism that causes you to raise your guard every time someone gets too emotionally close. When Saturn contacts a planet it often freezes its expression so that the development of the planet comes much later in life. You have an expectation of being let down and so you don’t show all of your emotions. Venus-Saturn is often too afraid of the risk involved in intimacy. Sometimes relationships can be a let down, burden and disappointment for various reasons. A lover can be poor financially, ill, tired and depressed. A partner may even be blamed for the source of your unhappiness.

Saturn cultivates self-sufficiency and the ability to overcome obstacles and climb the ladder of success in partnership. Your lesson in life is to learn how to love yourself without doubt. Build a relationship with love and affection that is shared equally. You respect the beauty of relationship and the time and responsibility it takes to make it work. The way in which you take ‘others’ seriously will in time be reciprocated, but only if you let them in. Don’t hold back on the very emotion and validation that you so desperately need.

Taurus Quotes

"Ownership can be very important to some Taureans, and money and property can be utilised as a form of defence. For others, money itself may matter less than a familiar environment into which one can retreat. This can also mean a stable job which, although uninspiring, has the merit of being secure, or a relationship which, although difficult, has the merit of being safe.

The famous Taurean resistance to change can be understood at a much deeper level when we recognise that as a defence against chaos and the terrors of the unknown. Any basic astrological textbook will tell you that Taureans don't like change. But we need to understand why, because this allows us not only to respect the defence mechanism, but also to enter into the inner world of the Taurean and recognise what kind of fears might underpin his or her notorious intractability. This is a far more intelligent way of interacting than simply stamping one's foot and shouting, "Why are you so bloody stubborn?" or "How can you be so materialistic?" Taureans are often terrified of the destruction that might ensue if their world falls apart into disorder or what they identify as theirs is taken away from them." By Liz Greene, Barriers and Boundaries

"Taurus is by far the slowest moving sign, and arguably the one that carries the greatest amount of inertia, so once Taurus gets moving, it's very difficult to stop it again. In the Northern Hemisphere, where astrology developed, Taurus relates to the middle of springtime, when the world has settled into a calm routine of steady growth, and this is very much what Taurus likes: slow steady, progressive growth." By Kevin Burk, Classic Astrology

"As a fixed earth sign, Taurus often suffers from feelings of insecurity. The Taurean must feel that the one he loves is at least attached to him as he is to the one he cares about. He will always demand proofs of loyalty and devotion, and the wise lover will know how to supply them. Taurus needs constant demonstrations of physical tenderness. With some this desire can be carried to the extreme, as Taureans are know to be extremely sensual and demanding in their sexual appetites. It should be remembered by the sons and daughters of the second sign are very physically orientated and take great pleasure in their bodies. The Taurean woman loves good perfume and soft clothes. She is extremely sensitive and can feel that there is something wrong with her if her lover forgets to give her a goodbye kiss when he goes out or neglects to compliment her on her hair." By Alan Oken, Complete Astrology

"Another question, more for Moon in Taurus individuals, would be: Do my possessions own me? Can I take a long trip without worrying about them? Could I sublet my house to a stranger if my company sent me to Mideast for six months? Am I free or am I bound to the material world? Am I a dependent personality. Do I possessively hold on to my boyfriend or to my children instead of giving them freedom to make their own mistakes in life? If we think of Taurus as prima materia (prime matter or modelling clay) and the Moon as form (which Plato called her), we may have the impression of of a double dose of receptivity in the Taurus Moon. We may find a support person who becomes dependent on the other or others and whose clinging dependency may alienate the other and may cause claustrophobia." By Kathleen Burt, Archetypes of the Zodiac

"Modern astrology equates Taurus with fixity, fertility, fruitfulness, and security- all energies that relate in some way to things that grow in the earth. While not every Taurus is a gardener, it is true that their lives closely parallel the cycles of nature. In the Taurean spring, it is important which seeds are planted, as well as making sure that the right thing is planets at the right time. One cannot plant flowers in the dead of winter. The seedlings must be watered properly and given the right amount of light, food and nurturing. Such tasks are required of Taureans, and during spring cycle their proficiency at sustaining the young plant, waiting, and watching its growth patiently, is more important than the expectation of results. The summer cycle is associated with an ease of existence which many Taureans try to extend beyond its normal time frame-that of sitting back and basking in the richness of the beauty around them, observing the vibrancy of colour and the abundance with which nature has rewarded them for their careful planting and nurturing. By Ariel Guttman and Kenneth Johnson, Mythic Astrology

"Taste is another quality often to be found in Taurus. Taurus' tastes tend toward conventional, rather than the startling; if you want shocking taste, try the fire signs, or perhaps the air signs. Earth, being more realistic and conscious of the demands of society, tends toward good quality which are not likely to suddenly go out of style in six months. Taurus is not a 'fad' person. But within the confines of his more solid, almost bourgeois palate, his taste is usually impeccable. Never obtrusive. Maybe a really good car, like a Bentley or a Rolls Royce (never something as flashy and unreliable as a Lamborghini, which always has to be in the shop to be tuned). Something solid and reliable that speaks not fashion, but solid wealth. Taurus has strong roots in tradition. And often there is a love of the old and the antique - antique furniture, antique lace, antique shawls and jewelery, old masters' paintings. Solid, ageless, valuable. By Liz Greene, Astrology for Lovers

"When Taurus finds its true purpose and something to occupy its drive and energy, its creativity knows no bounds: the skills of painting, sculpture, musical composition, and architecture are all expressions of the artistic talent of Taurus. However, in order to create Taureans need a wake up call: they must be reminded that life is constantly in a state of flux Tareans are famous for being stubborn, for digging their heels in, and for standing their ground. This can be positive if they need to maintain their position (but may be negative if they're simply resisting change)." By Annie Lionett, The Astrology Directory

Gemini Quotes

Words are fascinating things for Gemini. Whether he's the more verbal type of Gemini who talks a blue streak or the quieter types (yes there are some) whose minds may be spinning with all kinds of things but who are too introverted to tell you about them., language is usually a wonderful and eternally stimulating game for him.

I have met many Gemini's who are incurable pun-makers - a form of humour which seems peculiar to only a couple of signs, Pisces being the other - because they love play with language. Self expression through language is extremely important, and Gemini also loves to hear himself talk - not because he thinks he's so wonderful, but because he's fascinated with what words can do. Often he'll learn languages quickly, and word-plays amuse him where clumsier forms of humour leave him cold. By Liz Greene, Astrology for Lovers

The third sign of the zodiac is the first of the human signs (i.e., Castor and Pollux). It's the the first of the air signs, the realm of mental and social relationships. Often, as is the case with Castor and Pollux, there is a sibling relationship for the Gemini to deal with, and more often than not, it is one that challenges rather than supports the Gemini's position. Whether the duelling adversary is an actual twin or simply a sibling, or even associate, Gemini's abilities are exercised and stimulated, like Aries, by having a sparring partner. But as we have already observed, the sparring takes place mentally or intellectually for the Gemini, as opposed to the more physical or active challenge demanded by Aries. By Ariel Guttman and Kenneth Johnson, Mythic Astrology

Hermes is a catalyst; a messenger. He communicates information and brings people together. that's why in medical astrology Gemini rules the nervous system; it functions as a network to carry messages from the senses to the brain. In social situations, the Gemini archetype is also the catalyst. This involves two factors of course - positive and negative (dual). In the positive sense, Gemini friends are good at circulating your business card at social events. Give them a stack of cards to add t their gardener's, hairdresser's, caterer's, seamstresses. But, in the negative sense, beware of the gossip tendency. Remember that Hermes, in constant transit through the Three Worlds, talked with many gods, heroes and men. therefore, if you have Scorpio privacy tendencies yourself, don't entrust your deepest secrets to Herme's children. He doesn't always report the story accurately. Hermes likes to improvise, create and entertain. By Kathleen Burt, Archetypes of the Zodiac

Your also very good with your hands. You use them when you speak and have excellent eye-to-hand coordination. It can even be said that your hands have a mind of their own. As a child of Mercury, you have a way of putting things and will practice getting the best spin. Hence your love of a good debate. You revel in argument for arguments sake. A battle of wits allows you to practice your verbal jousts and parries. Wordplay is one of you favourite forms of recreation, and you'll say just about anything if it's a good line. Because you tend to treat conversations like a game, you can be genuinely bewildered if someone takes offence. By Christopher Renstorn, Ruling Planets

Having a mutable sign, the Gemini is known for versatility. He often supports himself through two jobs and is best suited to work that is never sedentary and which allows abundant room for creativity. Gemini's make excellent graphic artists (line is ruled by Gemini, color by Libra); musicians (melody is the mercurial provides, harmony belongs to the balance of the Scales); agents of all kinds; professional traveler; writers, translators, lecturers; and teachers. As we have said, Gemini is a sign of relationships. Friends and associates are important to him, for they provide him with the changes in circumstances which he likes so much. He also likes to exchange opinions, and when this is carried too far he can be quite a vehement orator. In addition to the strength of his tongue, Gemini is also known for looseness of tongue. A Gemini can be quite a gossip. By Alan Oken, Complete Astrology

For Gemini, information can be a way of preserving independence and maintaining detachment. It is a healthy defence. Gemini needs to be in touch. The more one knows about the world, the less likely one is to be trapped in an emotional quagmire. I know many Gemini's, and people with Moon or ascendant in Gemini, who simply must watch the news on television every night, or must have a newspaper to read in the morning. Gossip can provide the same satisfaction to some Geminians. If one isn't in touch with everything that's going on, one might sink down into a terrible swamp. One's mind can no longer provide an escape route from difficult emotions. By Liz Greene, Barriers and Boundaries

Cancer Quotes

"Tenacity is another keyword and reminiscent of the claws of the crab this is indeed the most tenacious and clingy of the signs. It's not easy for Cancer to let go of family members, or indeed anything that provides any kind of support system. Cancer can cling to people and to things, no matter how old. In some with the sign emphasised, their tendency to cling to people can result in possessiveness a smothering propensity and needlessly fussing over them". Sue Tompkins, Contemporary Astrologer's Handbook

"Profound respect for the past may be expressed through a fascination for history, for Cancer's sense of imaginative empathy with what has gone before makes history a living reality. Often shy and reluctant to reveal thoughts and emotions which could incure criticism or rejection, Cancer may display a polished and sophisticated face to the world". By Liz Greene, Mythic Astrology

"Stomach ailments, calcium assimilation problems and milk allergies often develop in Cancers who, at midlife, are learning to rechannel the nurturing energy from the outer world toward the self, the inner source of creativity, in Cancers who may be feeling emotionally starved, neglected, or abandoned. Another symptom is eating vast amounts of ice cream, creamy pastries, rich desserts. Cancer tends to eat when the Inner Child is feeling deprived, and especially crave milk products". By Kathleen Burt, Archetypes of the Zodiac

"Cancer's basis for understanding his world is emotional. Unless Gemini or Aquarius are very strongly placed in the chart, what seems like intuition or logic will actually be a highly developed emotional perception. When spiritually evolved, Cancer makes an excellent psychic worker, but if this is not the case, he can often become hysterical with fears, worries, and anxieties. Cancer feels, he does not think. He can become tremendously overwrought if there is no logical dam to stop and redirect his emotional waters". By Alan Oken, Complete Astrology

"I once had a pair of hermit crabs as pets. These creatures are particularly fascinating because, rather than having hard shells of their own, they wear the dead molluscs, and camouflage them. There is a kind of Cancer whose shell is culled from others, as well as a kind who grows his own. Now when a hermit crab outgrows his shell - which he inevitably does - he must find a bigger one, and make the move in total safety. Underneath the crab is defenseless, completely vulnerable creature. There is a period of time when crabs must hide under the sand while the new shell grows hard. They have to remain hidden, or they will be instant dinner for the nearest seagull without so much as a by-your-leave. Cancer people too have these cycles, where they must withdraw after a change and a period of new growth, Surprise them or intrude upon them when they are going through their quiet private time, and you can damage them irrevocably. Damage them in childhood, and they will retreat into a small shell, sometimes never to emerge. It takes a long time for the crab to forget, once he has been wounded". By Liz Greene, Astrology for Lovers

"Because you see everything in cycles, you know that every ending, carries the seeds of a fresh start. Just when you finish one activity you're on to something else. For you, life is constantly being renewed. The future flows into the past in one continuous stream, as F. Scott Fitzgerald writes at the end of The Great Gatsby: "so we beat on, boats against the current, borne back ceaselessly into the past." As a child of the Moon, you believe that the only thing that gives you a true sense of yourself is everything that has come before. Your past. Your history. These are the cornerstones you will build your life's foundation on. But this doesn't make you wistful or nostalgic - although you can get that way on occasion. What it does make you is consistent". By Christopher Renstrom, Ruling Planets

"Many of the less appealing Cancerian behavior patterns which sometimes cause difficulties with other people - in particular the manipulative tactics, evasiveness, and tendency to use emotional blackmail - become comprehensible if we remember that, for Cancer, loneliness is not merely an unpleasant experience one has to put up with for a while. It is extinction. Isolation may frighten a Cancer more than anything else, and companionship may be symbolised by food because two are the same at the beginning of life". Uranus in Aquarius

Uranus in Aquarius

Big Brother, U.K, 2010, is set to end this year. The series is based on a reality show which films a group of individuals in a house for 12 weeks. The first series aired in the Netherlands in 1999, this was during Uranus' transit through Aquarius. The show is a social experiment designed to test people in a confined space, with no outside contact. The people chosen are of different backgrounds, class, race and religion. The contestants are filmed 24 hours a day and all cast votes for members of the house to face eviction. The final contestant left wins a large a sum of money.

Uranus transiting through Aquarius signifies the social aspect in society and introduced one of the biggest social experiments. The transition describes the need to break free from social prejudice and snobbery in order to achieve a more enlightened social interaction. During the process boundaries are likely to be broken down. The Jupiter-Uranus conjunction in Aquarius also brought the comet Hale-Bopp in the night sky. It was referred to as the 'Great Comet' and was the most spectacular astronomical sight of 1997. Observations conducted in N.A.S.A observatries estimated that Hale-Bopp's nucleus is between 19 and 25 miles in diameter. By comparison, the comet that is thought to have struck the Earth 65 million years ago, probably causing the extinction of the dinosaurs, is estimated to have been 6-9 miles in diameter. After the 1997 appearance, it is calculated that the Hale-Bopp comet will disappear from sight again until the year 4397.

The 'Heavens Cult Mass Suicide' believed that the Hale Bopp comet is a sign that they should leave their earthly bodies behind to join  a spacecraft flying behind the comet. Thirty nine members of the cult commit suicide by drinking a deadly cocktail of vodka and barbiturates. The transit of Uranus-Neptune was still powerful and the 'mass spiritual enlightenment' and disillusionment influenced the time. The emphasis on 'brotherhood' would be evident and more socializing via the World Wide Web.  Political movements, social, cultural and group vision were the favour of this transit. Uranus' duration through Aquarius highlighted areas of social intolerance, futuristic vision and heightened interest in outer-space and universal ideas.

Leo Quotes

leo woman surounded by jewels and lightLeo comes to life with an inner confidence which exudes from him into the environment. It is this quality which inspires people to place their faith and trust in him. If confidence turns to vanity, however, Leo will find that others will just easily turn away. Leo is not an insecure Aries, an evasive Taurus, a jumpy Gemini, a fearful Cancer. He is Lord Leo the Proud (unless of course, he happens to be Loafer Leo the Cowardly, an equally numerous species of feline). He is determined to success, to rally everyone under his banner. His project is everyone's project, his likes are everyone's likes, his enemies are everyone's enemies. You must side with him in everything or you will fail to prove your loyalty, a capital crime in the State of Leo. By Alan Oken, Complete Astrology

And like the king you don't take criticism well. You see nothing "constructive" about someone pointing out your faults. As far as you're concerned, a naysayer just wants o ruin your day. This is when the children of the Sun get very imperious. You'll adopt "take it or leave it" attitude about your performance on the job or at home. You aren't ambitious int he ordinary sense of the word. You see ambition as declasse. Ambitious people are just out for themselves. Needy, grabby, and hopelessly dissatisfied, they're driven by what's lacking in their lives. You don't see yourself as lacking anything. This isn't to say your perfectly happy. Theyre' are plenty of things you'd like to have or hope to achieve one day. But the difference is that you see yourself as constantly moving towards toward your golden age. If you don't get what you want today, theres always a chance you'll get it tomorrow. Even when skies are cloudy and gray, your Ruling Planet, the Sun, never deviates from its path. By Christopher Renstrom, Ruling Planets

It would sometimes appear on the surface, that Leo needs approval and affirmation from others, whereas Aries doesn't give a damn. With Leo potency the world outside may not be that important. Obviously we have some glaring historical exceptions, such as Napoleon. On the surface he seems to be an exception. But in the main, for Leo,it isn't a question of feeling potent; it is a question of feeling unique. These are not the same thing. Leo's need is not focused on beating the competition. In many ways Leo is not competitive at all. Other people simply aren't important enough to be considered competition, because Leo's dialogue is really between oneself and God. This is reflected in the need to experience oneself as having a destiny, because an individual destiny implies that there is some divine power which says, "You're here for a special purpose; you are my favoured child." This is the core of the hero myth. Th inner feeling of being chosen, of being the divine child, is a fundamental aspect of Leo's defence against exitinction or ordinariness. By Liz Greene, Barriers and Boundaries

The Solar Path involves active, conscious participation, or the use of one's own will and understanding-a cooperation with the Divine. It includes the fiery zeal of Leo-the courage of the Lion who goes forth independently and takes risks, who fearlessly faces the adventure of life and makes mistakes, willing to accept the "lions share" of responsibility for them. Several Leo clients have been drawn to Jung and his psychology of individuation. Jung himself was a Leo and found the inner quest of the individual for wholeness of particular fascination. To be all we can be, "to strip away the layers of the onion and to get to the core of who you are," he once said. That's a quest worthy of Leo. So this is, indeed, an important sign. If Aries was a doer and activist, than Leo is a becomer- personality int he process of becoming himself. It was Apollo the Sun God who brought spirit to man. Leo has spirit. It's like the song, "You've gotta have heart, lots and lots of heart." By Kathleen Burt, Archetypes of the Zodiac

No astrologer, I think, would argue that this quality of fiery passionateness is characteristic of Leo. But the lion is the stage in a process, as Jung suggests; and it is this process or pattern which brings us into the sphere f the 'fate' of Leo. It would seem from what I have seen of the life histories of Leo's with whom I have worked, that there an alchemical work to be performed. The lion is not permitted to remain in his bestial form, but must give way to something other. It seems a disturbing aspect pattern that Leo is often treated, as Jung describes, with the circumspection 'proper to the jungle', or with the method's of the animal trainer'-the whip and the goad. This is a painful process for Leo, whose childlike heart is deeply injured by the reactions of his fellows to his own excesses. He 'meant it for the best', but somehow others do not seem to be appreciative; they aer more often angry. If Leo himself does not glimpse the importance of the process, life tends to teach him rather forcibly that a lion cannot roam loose among men without some retaliation. Liz Greene, The Astrology of Fate

In the big, broad, colourful world in which Leo lives, the intrusion of the small and the banal are not welcome. Leo needs to pain this canvas, with large, unrestricted strokes. Wherever some new, original idea is needed, wherever an impact must be made, wherever some new creative possibility can be envisioned, there you'll find Leo. Freddie Laker is a characteristic Leo. Who would that one man, without the enormous funds and hierarchy of the large airlines behind him, could have succeed in setting up his Sky train service with such flair? Notice the ads for his flights. Often you get to see a picture of Sir Freddie himself, smiling and promising his customers the best possible service available. There is the Leo touch: the personal stamp. No cold, impersonal photo of a big, powerful plane as you find with commercial airlines. No, you get to see the man himself. A little exhibitionist? Of course. But that's part of Leo's charm, too -the more distinctive and individual he can be, the happier he is. Some Leo's carry this the most outlandish extremes. Napoleon, for example, wanted to conquer the world. But you'll notice that wherever its said that something can't be done, there you'll find a Leo determined to do it. Quotes for Virgo

"Virgo's who are addicted to work will often encounter a crisis which forces them to take a sabbatical, re-enacting the Persephone myth by experiencing a crisis and retreatng to the cool, dark depths of their personal underworld where healing is possible. Even the glyphs for Virgo and Scorpio resemble one another, Virgo's turning inward and representing the yin force while Scorpio turns outward and potrays a more yang aspect. In any case, the story of Persephone forced the rulers of Virgo and Scorpio (Ceres and Pluto) together in Libra-like compromise (the sign that seperates Virgo and Scorpio) that was deemed to be just and fair for all concerned. By Mythic Astrology

The first duty of a human being is to assume the right functional relationship to society -- more briefly, to find your real job, and do it (Charlotte Perkins Gilman)

Many parents mention that they are worried about the Virgo child. The anti-social hermit phase seems to continue so long that they fear perhaps the late blooming daughter will metamorphose some day into the picture of the Old Maid playing card. One mother told me " I fear she will wake up one morning a spinster who keeps cats."Usually it can be demonstrated to the parents satisfaction, though, that the hermit coincides with some kind of apprenticeship and it is not a social malajustment. When Virgo feels content or competent at his craft, he does develop interest in social life. It has little or nothing to do with chastity or sex, but is a type of Virgo simplfication. How many of my Virgo/Virgo rising clients have remarked over the years "I could never have been married during my first year of teaching (or nursing, or social work). I went home exhausted, took a nap and opened the books or the briefcase and worked until the wee hours. By Kathleen Burt, The Archetypes of the Zodiac

I long to accomplish a great and noble tasks, but it is my chief duty to accomplish humble tasks as though they were great and noble. The world is moved along, not only by the mighty shoves of its heroes, but also by the aggregate of the tiny pushes of each honest worker. ~Helen Keller

It offers many points of contrast with Leo. It is not the sign of leadership but of service; it does not aim at brilliant results but at useful ones. It is patient and does not turn from routine or drudgery; it hates show and shuns responsibility and publicity. It is not ambitious  but is satisfied with a straight job and a fair wage. ~ By Charles Carter, The Principles of Astrology

I am somehow less interested in the weight and convolutions of Einstein's brain than in the near certainty that people of equal talent have lived and died in cotton fields and sweatshops. ~ Stephen Jay Gould

Virgo is pre-eminently a sign of criticism and discrimination, especially as regards details, and the commonest failings of the sign are the outcome of this tendency. They may be chronic fault finders, cantankerous, predjudiced, and narrow in their views, with the result that they are unpopular with those that misunderstand their natures. At the same time many natives of Virgo are notably kind and ready to oblige those whom they recognize as friends. By Charles Carter, The Principles of Astrology

Pleasure in the job puts perfection in the work. ~ Aristotle

Black and white choices imply a simple universe, and to Virgo the universe it rarely simple. It's more like a huge boundless, jigsaw puzzle, and it drives Virgo crazy if he hasn't got the picture on top of the box before he begins to assemble the puzzle. Sometimes the only tidy thing to see around Virgo is his bookshelf, for many Virgo's respect to an inordinate degree the entire field of knowledge. His books are to him the personifications of his mind, and his mind is often like one of those intricate workings of a delicate Swiss watch, ceaslessly moving and catologuing and reflecting and considering and labelling. First Test-Tube Baby Born

uranus in scorpio AND TEST TUBE BABY
Uranus in Scorpio breakthrough

On July 25, 1978, Louise Brown, the world’s first test tube baby’, was born in the U.K. Her mother, Lesley Brown , had been unable to conceive because of blocked fallopian tubes and had undergone experimental fertility treatment to become pregnant. Their method involved removing eggs from a woman’s ovary, fertilizing them with sperm in a glass (in vitro), and replanting them in the womb. However, until Lesley Browns success, none of the 80 women who had trialed the method had been able to stay pregnant beyond a few weeks.

On November, 10, 1977, Lesley Brown underwent treatment. She became the first woman to undergo a healthy pregnancy, and nine days before her due date, her daughter was delivered by cesarean section. Louise Brown was perfectly healthy and went on to have a child of her own. The success of the process gave hope to millions of couples unable to conceive. For some it also raised ethical issues. The main concern was whether the disposal of fertilized eggs, which is common practice in the process of intro fertilization (I.V.F), is in effect disposing of human lives, if life can be counted as having started at the point of fertilization. There were also concerns at the time as to how this power to create life might be used in the future, by pre-selecting the gender or features of a child and disposing of fertilized eggs that do not meet these criteria. Libra quotes

If you are going to spend your life with the kind of acute awareness of everybody else that Libra's got, you don't have a chance very often to express your own emotions honestly. And this is Libra's biggest problem. He often finds his own emotions very painful to deal with, because they so frequently contradict his ideal of the Good, the True and the Beautiful. Libra likes to think that emotion should always be pleasant, agreeable, loving and harmonious, When he feels things like anger, jealousy, intense desire, it frightens him. One shouldn't feel such things. He often carries a pretty sizeable guilt complex around with him, over all those nasty things that churn around in his secret soul. Like the fact that he really doesn't like everybody after all. In a nutshell, Libra often represses his own emotions mercilessly. By Liz Greene, Astrology for Lovers

We don't often see modern-day Librians concerned with the weight of their souls. The constant balancing acts they involve themselves in for the sake of partnership, however, may ultimately weigh them down. Libra's scales are constantly weighing and measuring the quality of fairness, or justice of their ongoing relationships. As the sign of the autumnal equinox, Libra represents a transitional moment in the cycle of the seasons. The days and nights are of equal length, so that the energies of the self (day) and the consciousness of "other" or collective humanity (night) stand balanced. This same situation, of course, occurs during the vernal equinox at the beginning of Aries, but with a vital difference. During Aries, it is the Day force which is growing stronger. Hence Aries represents and emergent individuality detaching itself from collective humanity. In Libra, the Nightforce is increasing, so that symbolism here depicts the individual beginning to recognize the needs of others, of the collective. Thus Libra's scales are usually tipped away from the self and toward others. And though the scales may seem rather impersonal symbol for the sign which we associate with marriage and partnership, they do symbolize the balance of forces which occurs at the equinox. By Mythic Astrology, Ariel Guttman & Kenneth Johnson

Because the Seventh House is, for Libra, life's major issue, Librians will remark in the course of the reading " I have a prosperous law practice" or "I have a successful decorating business" but "life is empty. There is no relationship right now. I am out of balance. If I were married and living with someone, then my whole life would be back in equilibrium." The scales (equilibrium) seem intrinsically connected with the partner. Eros (relating), Aphrodite's child with bow and arrows, seems to follow Libra about the same way he did Aphrodite myths. If the astrologer says to a disillusioned Librian emerging form a relationship, "But you are so attractive and popular. You'll find someone else very soon," the response is almost always, "Yes, but when with I meet the "right" one?" In looking at these charming people, one thinks, Aphrodite herself, admired by so many and adored by Pygmalion, pining away for the impossible love, Adonis the mortal, unhappy because he couldn't keep the right love forever - for all mortals are destined to die. By Kathleen Burt, Archetypes of the Zodiac

The landscape of Libra is clean and precise, for raw nature is not welcome here. Ancient instinctual claims give way to reasoned outlook, where experiences are measured against general principles rather than interpreted according to emotional need. The concept of fairness is a creation of the human mind; cheetahs do not meet in committee to discuss whether a particular antelope deserves to be eaten. Libra sets itself against the necessity of natural law, striving to create an ideal world in which reason take precedence over simple survival. Those with the sign prominent in the birth chart also set high ideals for themselves, and although they may suffer for their principles, they wish to be - and be seen as - civilised human beings. By Liz Greene, Mythic Astrology

The symbol of the scales also reveals a major concern of Libra: that of weighing things up. Justice belongs here, as a just decision can only be arrived at when the viewpoints of opposing factions have been carefully weighed. An ability to compromise is also part of Libra's armoury, as a conciliation. Perhaps no other sign has such a good potential for helping parties in a dispute reach an agreement, a particularly useful skill not only in diplomatic fields but also for helping separating or divorcing couples. Virgo, in its orientation towards service and humility, tends towards the servile and therefore can create relationships with a servant/served feeling to them. Libra rectifies this imbalance by being concerned with equality and partnership where, at best, no one holds the upper hand. Libra meets the 'other' as an equal and is the first sign to do so. Theodore Maiman: Laser Man

jupiter conjunct uranus
I thought I would write about some Scientific topics for the ongoing Jupiter-Uranus conjunction in Aries.  Theodore Maiman, was a physicist who patented the first operable laser, his father was an electronics engineer who strongly believed that Science should be used to better the world.

Theodore attended University and achieved the Bachelor of Science in Engineering degree. After graduation he accepted a position with Hughes Research Laboratories where he designed innovations to the ’maser’ before working on the development of an optical maser, or laser.

Astrologically (view chart). We have a Jupiter-Uranus conjunction in Aries in the 8th house. As many of you know, astrologers have been writing about this conjunction over the last couple of months and the possibility of scientific advancements at this time.

Einstein also had a natal Jupiter-Uranus contact and the combination of these two planets puts an emphasis on truth, knowledge and freedom. It is a progressive energy and it suggests a talent for science, astrology and other areas of progressive knowledge. Bob Dylan also has this aspect, and it signifies inventiveness and  a rebellious spirit. The rebellion aspect in Theodore was in play when he went against the grain of  Scientists who ridiculed him for using ruby, a material ruled out by them. Theodore persevered in his work and was the first to build the laser.

The sign of Aries needs to be the first in everything, and they are original and innovative and trailblazers in their field. Maiman also had Sun conjunct Pluto in Cancer in the 11th house. Pluto tends to be obsessive and transformational, and the eleventh house rules groups, societies and clubs. His father had a massive influence on him and this is often observed with Sun-Pluto combinations in the horoscope. The Sun in the 11th house describes a powerful need to be recognised by society and to play an important part in progressing man forward.

Scorpio Quotes

scorpio woman in black with black cat and green eyes"You don't do "lite." It's not in your Birthday Planet's vocabulary. You're too intense. You may have gone through periods (especially when you were younger) when you felt ashamed for reacting the way you do. Perhaps you even tried to cover it up. In time you've come to accept yours not everyone's cup of tea. You know a lot of people, but you have few friends. And you like it that way. You rely on your inner circle. It's the only place (other than when you're by yourself) where you open up. In those moments of soul searching - when you descend into the very depths of your being - you want to know you can do that without having to worry about being too intense for the people around you. You don't have much patience for people who live "surface" lives, but you may also come to realize that not everyone has to reach your depth of feeling to be a friend. Someone can react to a situation coolly or pragmatically, but it doesn't mean that person doesn't care. By Christopher Renstrom, Ruling Planets

"There is an intense emotional nature. No sign has more profound and enduring feelings, for owing to the fixity of Scorpio these become set, with the result that in high types there is unwavering devotion to principles, deep sympathy, and true understanding, while in primitives, in whom the moral standard is low or uncertain, a host of dangerous feelings may appear, bitter dislikes or hatreds, often cherished for a lifetime, extreme sensitiveness to imagined slights or, resentment, suspicion, and furious anger. Scorpio's of this kind are very prone to think themselves undervalued, and to relieve their feelings on this score in the shape of constant boasting. Charles Carter, The Principles of Astrology

"All the water signs share the fear of isolation, but they utilise different defence. The defences can be enormously creative. Cancer's need to belong is a fundamental part of the sign;s gift of empathy and nurturing. Pisces' retreat in the imaginable world can produce works of art. Scorpio's need to fix bonds in an unchanging state can produce extraordinary loyalty, commitment and courage. But in some cases defences are so extreme that the person is taken over by them. Then the Cancer produces hysterical symptoms that look like a beach ball, the Piscean overdoses on the bedroom floor, and the Scorpio goes on a rampage and murders his wife as well as her lover. By Liz Greene, Barriers and Boundaries

"The spider s also ruled by Scorpio. It weaves its shining web and waits at its center while the gleaming structure of death attracts its dinners. The web is perfect, a time tested pattern which rarely changes except to improve. The unconscious fly gets caught int he spiders hardened secretions and becomes entangled and exhausted as it tries to escape. At just the right moment the spider approaches, sticks its hollow tooth into the insect's body and removes all the vital fluids, leaving just the shell. But we must not blame the spider, for it is just as instinctually unconscious of its actions as the fly. The true demon is one who is aware of its actions and joyfully practices it. Scorpio can thus be the tempter of souls, for he offers promises of power and of lust fulfilled. Scorpio can also be the catalytic agent who gives the searching a soul a way toward growth." By Alan Oken, Complete Astrology

"Let's abandon preconceptions and start from the beginning. What is it about the eighth sign that seems to provoke much confusion, fascination and dread? Open a medieval astrological text and, if you're strongly Scorpio - sun, moon or ascendant - you may as well take a flying leap of the Golden Gate Bridge, or turn yourself into the police right away before you perpetrate violence or sexual assault on someone. The descriptions are that bad. Power driven, sex-crazed, violent, warlike, vindictive, cunning: the image is a pretty horrific one. The modern equivalent isn't much better. It's a real nuisance having to live up to Mata Hari (who was a Scorpio) or Don Juan. Tiring, you might say. What is Scorpio really like?" By Liz Greene, Astrology for Lovers

"The lofty aspirations of Scorpio , which as Jung pointed out can lead to a loathing for life, and its powerful sensuality, which wishes to drown in the world, are extremely uncomfortable bedfellows. Yet they spring from the same mysterious core, half sexuality and half spirituality, which leads Faust on his long journey. The difficult combination of spiritualized eroticism and eroticised spirituality is a handful for Scorpio. It is not surprising that so many Scorpios repress or sublimate one or the other in despair that no reconciliation is possible. Faust thoroughly embraces both, although he 'made the worst of both worlds', and remains a figure of potential dignity and redemption. By Liz Greene, The Astrology of Fate

Jupiter in Aries

Jupiter in the zodiac sign of Aries  indicates that faith comes through innovative ideas and meeting challenges head-on. Eager to seek their own path in life, these people find that growth and opportunity happen when they are self-assertive and confident, and learn best when they make their own mistakes. There can be an over the top attention seeking side to the personality, but they are good at promotion and leadership and can be a real trendsetter.

Your mind is energized and you’re less diplomatic and tend to be straight-forward. Thoughts and words are acted upon and you don’t wait around all day to consider other options. Mercury tends to act subjective in Aries and answers are expressed in an honest, no beating about the bush manner. You might even become impatient with those who can’t keep up mentally because you don’t have time to flap about.

The placement can be prone to quarrelling or you may just come across as an assertive thinker. Chiron in Libra

Chiron in Libra

Chiron in Libra may bring wounding, a sense of unfairness and disappointment in relationships. Barbara Hand CLow says these people need plenty of feedback from others to get in touch with themselves. The author also says that one of the major lessons they learn is to tell what is fair and just. The concepts of balance and harmony is particularly challenging. The individual may become highly skilled in diplomacy, legal work or counselling. However, the wound that the world is unjust still remains and the reality of human nature never matches up to your ideals.

The family background may reflect wounds in the area of relating. Bridging opposites and achieving a balanced clear view-point can lead to disillusionment. The wound appears through trying to make everything perfect. A sense of unfairness is pronounced with this placement. You may rage when you see people being selfish and treating others unequally. You may also feel some kind of rejection related to relationships and social interactions. You need to understand what relationships can teach you and have a compassionate response to ordinary human failings.

You might feel inadequate in the social sphere and perhaps early childhood placed too much emphasis on maintaining the appearance of harmony. In adulthood, you wish you could cure the world of its darkness and live within a society that is ethical, and one that shares responsibility. Acceptance of flawed human beings and a flawed society would go a long way to healing the wound.

Ideal concepts are lovely but they do not always work in the reality of a situation. Imperfection creates dissatisfaction and it is painful to see society trapped in greed and self centeredness, and trying to heal this situation feels hopeless, and fill you with bitterness. All you want is civilised interchange. You might not fit the “ideal” relationship and may feel this is a deeply wounding situation.

Maybe it is the relationship itself that does not fit the ideal and you may feel isolated and shut off. You might help others heal their wounds and achieve transformation through understanding the pain of social rejection, injustice and unethical actions, because on some level, you have been there too.

Saturn in Virgo

saturn in virgoOrganisation and discipline are applied to the finer details in life. You are learning to master and craft your skills, and ask yourself, how well can I do this job? You may be appointed to take responsibility concerning time, order, routine and to take work seriously. You need to establish reliable routines and true service is learned the hard way and shouldn‘t feel like a chore. Awareness of social responsibility and synthesis of mind and body are part of the master plan that Saturn has in mind. Virgo increases Saturn’s natural sense of order and so you are highly conscious of dis-order in the environment. On the flip side, you could be obsessive in some part of your life concerning order and details.

You have the task of separating the necessary from the unnecessary, but negatively there can be over perfectionism and a fear of making mistakes. Fault-finding can replace positive self-assessments and you may doubt your usefulness in society. You are learning to do things right, without being too hard on yourself. You doubt your skills and ability to the job, and need to learn to have more faith and work effectively.

Learn how to MANAGE daily life with more competence. Anxiety and nerves dominate and affect how you perform, and every minor fault receives a harsh self-review. In compensation, you might work yourself too hard when editing, filing, crafting and perfecting your skills. This isn’t the right use of Saturn in Virgo. Moreover, you may fear the job so much that you limit your job opportunities, so don’t develop a defeatist attitude and let fear work for you, let it be the goad that pushes you to improve.

With these exacting standards any job performed has to be done the RIGHT way. The greatest challenge is focused on your ability to analyse, discriminate, develop knowledge and use the intellect as a tool. Don’t be a time waster in life and learn how to structure the day. Develop a natural earthy rhythm, and learn how get the most productivity in the time available. Otherwise, constant discontentment and lack of confidence in daily affairs will predominate. There may be a dislike of boring and repetitive routines and difficulty in finding ANY joy at work. Saturn's placement signifies where we feel doubt and fear failure. You possess fine administrative and analytical skills, however, more effort is needed to develop them. You may be hard in self-assessments but with determination you can master the job.

Sagittarius Quotes

Sagittarius ArcherIs it therefore not surprising that so many Sagittarians run headlong into the fate of a marriage like that of Zeus and Hera. The textbook Sagittarian avoids marriage because he feels trapped by too many rules and rigid expectations. He dislikes being 'tied', and prefers to be spontaneous' which means that he finds the consequences of his actions unpleasing and prefers to avoid them. But it is my experience that there is some kind of fate at work for those late-marrying Centaurs, male or female. They tend to find their Hera sooner or later. Of course, it may not be a spouse; it may be a job, or a cause to which the individual is bound, or a house, or some other object in the outer world. Liz Greene, The Astrology of Fate

The one thing that the Archer is certain of is that he always wants more of whatever he has. If it's food, he becomes a glutton, if it's power, he strives to become a dictator; if it's philosophical understanding, he never lets his mind rest; if it's universal love, he will seek martyrdom. To Sagittarius, the present is only a means to the future. Life is an opportunistic game for him, one which will constantly take him to further adventure. It is easy for Sagittarius to become sidetracked, for somehow his goal, if he had one in the first place, rarely materializes completely as planned. In its place are the many tales which have come from the tangents on which his curio mind and strong body have taken him. Alan Oken, Complete Astrology

The art of archery also includes some modifications of the Sagittarian telephoto-lens view of reality. There is occasionally a need to apply precise, accurate, Virgo/Gemini lens to zero in on the target. His overview of the big picture needs focus. Thus, the long view, which comes naturally to Sagittarius, must be tempered with the precision centred lens, or focus of Hermes concentration. Both the telescopic and the microscopic views must work together in the Art of Archery, or as the Japanese Masters called it-the Sacred Doctrine. This is an important key to integrating houses Three and Nine, or as the older textbooks called them, the lower (factual, technical) and higher (abstract) minds. By Kathleen Burt, Archetypes of the Zodiac

The more introverted Sagittarian may not be found frequenting a new disco or roller skating rink. But he'll usually be miles ahead of everyone else with a new novel, a new philosophy, a new film, a new cultural phenomenon. The same gifted intuition works here, but in a more interior way. And it works too, with contacts. Nobody has the penchant for making valuable contacts that Sagittarius . Somehow its always the Centaur that 'bumps into' the director for a new lead, the publisher looking for a new work, the record producer looking for a fresh voice. It can make you tear your hair, the way luck seems to pour from heaven onto Sagittarus' haloed head. But it isn't really luck. Its that remarkable eye for opportunity, that intuitive nose that can spot a potential or a possibility thirty miles away. And also impulsiveness, rashness, boldness, call it what you will, that gives Sagittarius the flaming nerve to try his luck, where other signs will cower int he wings waiting for something more concrete. Liz Greene, Astrology for Lovers

When the Sun is in Sagittarius, it is the concept of the hero's journey to understand life and existence (i.e., to know God intimately) that keeps the raging. The Moon in Sagittarius , on the other hand, needs to approach life with a fairly light touch. These people do well when walking, camping, or merely daydreaming, but they probably do best of all when traveling, exploring new countries-or, if that's impossible, at least a new part of town (especially with their dogs). In short, the Moon in Sagittarius has a strong dose of Artemis in its nature; because of her connection with this sign, we might even consider Sagittarius an exaltation for the Moon, especially when it is new. By Ariel Guttman and Kenneth Johnson, Mythic Astrology

Yes, I think this the core of Sagittarius' nature, and also its basic defence system. In common with the other two fire signs, and unlike the water signs, Sagittarius does not depend upon others for its defences. Meaning for Sagittarius, has to come from inside; it is not sufficient to adopt a conventional religious or spiritual perspective based on someone else's definition or meaning. This intuitive conviction of a meaningful design is essential for Sagittarius as a defence against the threat of inertia and death. The mere suggestion that life has no meaning other than the personal meaning we inject into it, and that there isn't actually any divine plan, can be horrifying to Sagittarius, because the sign's capacity to maintain faith in the future is built on the idea that one is growing, one is evolving, one is moving always moving towards something. If the sense of the journey and the journey's goal and purpose are taken away, the inner coherence of the individual collapses. By Liz Greene, Barriers and Boundaries

You're concerned with metaphysical values like-what do I believe in? Am I doing the right thing? Does bumping into this person I haven't seen in a dog's age serve some kind of higher purpose? As a child of Jupiter, you recognize the potential in something and seek to bring it out in some way- like Michelangelo (a Child of Jupiter), who first saw his David in a massive block of marble, or a reformer who recognizes the heart of a saint beneath the skin of a sinner. You possess enough faith to cultivate potential of something sight unseen. Christopher Renstorm, Ruling Planets

Liz Greene: Guide to Astrology Review

I have finally watched my favourite astrologer on television, and transiting Jupiter trined Uranus, indicating something positive and rewarding in astrology. The Liz Greene: Guide to Astrology is just under 2 hours and begins with a discussion on the qualities of the moment present at our time of birth. The inner essence and purpose of our birth.

Liz Greene reads out a passage which concerns the mystical experience connected to astrology.

"The basic oneness of the universe is not only the central characteristic of the mystical experience, but is also one of the most important revelations of modern physics. It becomes apparent at the atomic level and manifests itself more as one penetrates deeper into the matter, down into the realm of subatomic particles...As we study the various models  of subatomic physics we shall see that they express again and again, in different ways, the same insight - that the constituents of matter and the basic phenomena involving them are all interconnected, inter-related and interdependent; that they cannot be understood as isolated parts of the whole."

Liz Greene also discusses Jung and the realisation that the outer life and the inner one are not separate, and a man's life is characteristic of himself. We have a narration through the signs, planets and houses and then learn how to construct a birth chart. It is probably most helpful for those who prefer to learn by example. The description of the signs are really poetic, and she describes Pisces as the sign sensing the ineffable that which lies beyond the normal banalities of life, and the weariness of committing to one absolute truth and one philosophy and reality. Pisces also has a deep compassion for the bewilderment of the human condition."

The video concludes with the words that astrology yields back what the individual puts into it, and then Greene offers us some words on  the topic of fate, which so often comes up in many astrological discussions: "We are all born with individual potentials and unique ways in responding to life, particular abilities, talents and conflicts, and the chart we cannot change. However,  we can choose to live them creatively or destructively with blindness or with consciousness. A horoscope does not map out our fate in terms of external events, what it describes is the human soul."

Overall, it is a nice introduction to astrology and has some great tips for beginners.

Jupiter in Virgo

Hope and inspiration are sought through a world view that we live in an orderly reality. Joy can be found in craftsmanship and detail, and growth and development is achieved when they see how all the interrelated parts are connected to make up the whole. Good service and modest displays of faith are usually present.

Jupiter is in detriment in this sign and it is often difficult to embody faith if they try to digest too much information or attempt to find a clear view-point in religion, as there are so many views and nothing is clear-cut. In comparison, we are small and nobody really KNOWS the correct answer to many philosophical questions, and they tend to distrust world views that have no practical application.

Jupiter in Virgo is always searching for something more tangible and tend to be discerning in what they choose to believe in. There is always an obvious struggle linking the material and spiritual world. Analyzing concepts, philosophies and different types of religion could be one expression of this planetary placement, but the fault-finding energy of Virgo may also find its way into this sphere of life. “God is in the detail” could be their slogan, and expansion is found through mental productivity, a down to earth philosophy on life and believing in “what works”.

Work needs to have a sense of purpose and personal growth. Perhaps they will find a sense of meaning in routine or personal health and hygiene which could be beneficial aspects in your life. If they do follow any type of belief it will form as part of their daily routine and part of reality, how they see it. Belief in life is built step by step as they piece the universal puzzle together and you want to create a belief system that is useful, but also holds sense of meaning and creates a better society.

The intellectual powers can be good, although both sign and planet are a difficult fit. Virgo tends to be so detailed orientated that it is made more difficult to see the overall larger pattern at work. Depending on the rest of the chart this can lead to exaggerated, self-critical tendencies, and the placement works best when they aim to serve something greater through practical knowledge.

Mars in Virgo

Personal desires are expressed carefully and there is little risk taking, you also prefer to act in discretion and take action in a service oriented way. Assertiveness and feeling empowered comes through doing a job well. Anger arises when everything is not in order because you actively do things with thoroughness and precision. There is a tendency to over-work with this placement and then irritability and annoyance can rise to the surface.

Strength comes when you use this energy well without wasting time on pointless tasks. Although, do try to focus on being helpful rather than critical. Bad service is another thing that gets on your nerves and you take action by doing it yourself. Arguments at work may also be evident and you can accuse others of not doing their job properly. In work you are very particular and do things in the correct way, but you tend to be hyper-rational and can be cutting in your assessments of others abilities and potential.

You are not one to flap about helpless if something needs to be done. However, sometimes you don’t ask for the things you deserve. You are passionate about facts and may aggressively assert that you are right all the time. Still, you can help others straighten out their life and show them how to take the appropriate action. The ability to do routines repetitively and with efficiency is also pronounced. Virgo tends to contain Mars’ energy but you work hard for everything you get and often need a sports outlet to release any nervous and high-strung energy.

Mercury in Virgo

Mercury in Virgo (exalted) views and perceives life through detail and piecing all the parts together into an orderly whole. The analytical abilities are far above average and information needs to be clear and easily digestible. Clarity and conciseness are what matter in writing, speech and communication. Sometimes by being overly immersed in detail you can lose a broad vision and can have a critical nature when it comes to minor issues. This placement of Mercury strives to be logical and objective. Information is gathered for useful purposes and there is often an interest in health and work related subjects.

Mercury in Virgo sets out mental tasks to complete, and you have a innate, intellectual filing system, sorting out what is relevant and useful to you. Your discriminatory abilities are powerful and you care more about accuracy than relying on the imagination. Correctness is important and so you are very careful about what information is relayed to others. You are least likely to swallow concepts whole, and need to scrutinize what is presented. You break information down, and only use what is applicable to the reality and observation. Factual information is what matters and this is a good placement for studying, writing and speaking. Reasoning ability is also well developed, because you always try to find the most logical solution to any problem.

When involved in mental activities you don’t waste time and involve yourself in specialized branches of knowledge. When problem solving you intellectually think about the pro’s and cons before verbalizing your answer. Classification is your speciality, along with areas that involve compiling data and sorting out factual information. You don’t miss a step in mental evaluations and prefer to use methods of breaking down complicated information and analyzing it piece by piece. In this way you come to a much clearer understating of the totality of a problem. You hate to make mistakes and pay fine attention to grammar and spelling, so you keep your focus sharp and hone in on all those details. Sequence, order and evaluation are a high priority in your work.
